The two fiercest warriors against racism recently had a wholesome interaction that has left everyone in awe. Colin Kaepernick, the former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, met up with world-renowned Brazilian footballer Vinicius Jr. in a now-viral post. Both of the athletes have seen their fair share of racial injustice and their meetup was an iconic moment in the history of sports.

Colin Kaepernick is now one of the biggest voices to fight against racial discrimination against black people. His activism has made him one of the icons for black athletes all over the world. He was released from his team in 2016 when he took a knee in support of the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement in between the games. On 6th February, the world saw the most beautiful form of crossover between the sport of football and soccer. Both players have continued to be strong advocates for the fight against racial injustice in their sports. Vinicus Jr., the player for Real Madrid, has been subjected to a lot of condescension for not playing well enough in matches. Most of the time, the hate has been directed towards his race and as such, his meeting with Kaepernick left him feeling inspired.

In a post that was shared by both Vini Jr., and Kaepernick, the caption said, “Today was a very, very special day for me… Listening and learning the story of a MAN that has been fighting so much against racism was unforgettable for me. Thank you so much, Colin. Your story is truly inspiring and I recommend everyone to watch your Netflix documentary.  Thank you @nike Nike for connecting us. This day and my conversation with Colin will have a major impact on my life going forward to make this a better and more equal world. ✊🏿🖤🗣️⚽️🏈”

Their post is sure to make a mark among the masses as it already stands on over 412,985 likes. But with all that said, the NFL hasn’t welcomed Kaepernick back to the league with open arms despite his repeated attempts to come back. In response to this, Kaepernick’s girlfriend, Nessa Diab, issued a fierce statement.

Nessa Diab, Kaepernick’s longtime girlfriend, takes a direct shot at the NFL for ‘blackballing’ him

Kaepernick’s name came back to the surface when he drafted a letter to the New York Jets, requesting them to give him a shot at replacing Aaron Rodgers when he got severely injured against the Bills. His proposal was refused, and the team decided to depend on Zach Wilson to take over A-Rod. But even though his demand was met with disappointment, it helped open up a conversation about the QB’s future in the NFL and if he’ll ever get to come back to the sport.

In recent reports, it was said that the Canadian Football League was considering Colin Kaepernick for one of their teams, BC Lions, and put him on a negotiation list. There have been no official confirmations regarding Kaepernick’s future in the CFL, but we know that he would like nothing better than to come back to the NFL.

In response to the NFL ignoring his pleas, his girlfriend Nessa Diab took to Instagram and posted a picture of Kaepernick with the caption, “The only time I’ll post anything football related. To remind you @Kaepernickis still blackballed. Still holds records. I know the revisionist historians like to erase his accomplishments but you can’t” Kaepernick’s return to the gridiron seems futile at this point but one thing is for certain, his fight against racism will continue to live on forever.
