Jim Harbaugh, the man behind the run-heavy offense idea, was looking amazing with the gold whistle around his neck and the blue Chargers polo on him. With him taking over the Chargers this season, the Bolts are set to see a massive change in their overall playing style and lineup as well. However, the main question that will arise with Harbaugh dawning the HC cap is whether he would be able to recreate the same quick-turn magic with the Chargers. Well, that would take some sacrifices.

Letting some of your best players go has gotta be the toughest decision for any team. With the departure of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams from the team, GM Joe Hortiz went on to the Rich Eisen show to explain what led to the final decision. Eisen posted the clip of the interview on X on July 30th. The big question that Eisen pointed out was, “What do you say to Chargers fans who are wondering why he’s no longer with the team?” Hortiz was quite straightforward with his answer. “We had to do it to create opportunities for us to get other players,” he mentioned. While Allen and Williams won’t be seen in the blue jersey anymore, we definitely have some new names who can change the tides for the team.

Joe Alt was the first-round pick for the Chargers this year. Alt stands at a massive 6-foot-8, even towering over Justin Herbert, the star QB for the Chargers. In an interview, even Herbert acknowledged that Alt looked massive on the field. “He’s a tough guy even for me to see over sometimes,” he mentioned. Not only that, even Greg Roman, the offensive coordinator for the Chargers, agreed that Alt has it all in him. He has respect for the veterans and also has an amazing demeanor. Another honorable mention would be Ladd McConkey. That kid has been the best route runner for the team, with solid quickness and precision. However, will this be enough for Harbaugh to take the Chargers on an amazing run in the NFL?

Can he do it?

You don’t have to like him, but you gotta admit that Harbaugh is an amazing coach. He has gone 188-71-1 across college football and the NFL. And now he’s been handed one of the most solid rosters in the league? While many changes need to be made on the defensive end, Harbaugh still has a good foundation here. Mike Schofield put it perfectly when he said, “Results may come, but they might not be overnight.”

If the defense properly adjusts Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa and if rookies Joe Alt and Ladd McConkey receive the necessary polish, this team could easily end up becoming a massive force in the NFL. Harbaugh even made some comments regarding the efforts he’s gonna put in for the rookies. “I was just trying to get the heart rate up a little bit, you know,” he said. The training camp was just the start. Harbaugh has already cooked up in his head how he’s gonna take this team forward.
