Home/NFL

The Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles, was all set to invite the Green Bay Packers team for a wild-card round. When CBS announced the list of announcers for all the wild-card games, we got excited, and why not? Tom Brady was gonna call this game. And to add the cherry on top, FOX’s star sideline reporter Erin Andrews was also gonna assist him. But all the hype got doused by a single moment, that left fans scratching their heads. What exactly happened?

The seven-time Super Bowl champion was there in the announcement box with colleagues. And in the game, the Eagles were leading in the first quarter with 10-0. That was an impressive play by the Eagles’ offense, and the Packers’ running back Josh Jacobs was doing a good job as a leader and experienced player on the field. However, that couldn’t save him from Brady’s blunder…

While talking to his colleagues, the NFL veteran said, “The energy that Brandon Jacobs — excuse me, Josh Jacobs — is playing with.” Very few could have missed that. Notably, Brandon Jacobs is a running back, who announced his retirement a decade ago, in 2014.

But only if that was all. During the same broadcast, the 47-year-old slipped up again when he said, “[You have] three timeouts, so you’d have a couple plays. But I like this call by the Phillies… excuse me, by Philly,” as per Daily Mail.

After calling Jacobs incorrectly, the internet didn’t spare Brady for this huge mistake. The football enthusiast would have tolerated him if this had happened for the first time.

Lamar Jackson’s Ravens were playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16, and Brady called the latter’s running back Najee Harris as Najee Davenport. Much like Brandon Jacobs, Davenport hasn’t played since 2008. It was a shock to people how a former NFL legend could make this mistake. According to reports, amid the backlash of Week 16, Brady went to enjoy a holiday on the Caribbean Island to refresh.

But fans didn’t let him escape this time.

Fans couldn’t tolerate Tom Brady’s announcing mistake

After mispronouncing the names of renowned players incorrectly, even Tom Brady couldn’t help himself from receiving a backlash. One fan said, “Lmao at Tom Brady calling Josh Jacobs ‘Brandon Jacobs’. Those Giants teams still haunt him to this day.” Actually, Brandon Jacobs is a former Giants running back who has won two Super Bowls and he beat Tom Brady’s Patriots in the 2007 and 2011 season’s final game. And he was a man who crushed the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.

Tom Brady had said that time, “I couldn’t sleep after the Patriots’ Super Bowl loss”. So, that’s why fans are laughing at him that he still didn’t forget the loss. So, another fan didn’t miss an opportunity to say, “Tom Brady saying Brandon Jacobs instead of Josh Jacobs 🤣. The 07 & 11’ Giants truly haunt this man.” That seems true.

Apart from this, one fan called Bray, “Playoff hot take: Greg Olsen is better than Tom Brady at talking about football on television. And it’s not particularly close.” And if this was not enough, another fan trolled Brady more hilariously. Fan said, “Tom Brady seems like the guy who reads all the billboards out loud on a road trip. ‘Tommy’s Landscaping. Established 1987. You know that’s impressive, not a lot of landscaping businesses that old.'” That was brutally hilarious.

That’s how fans would treat you if you were going to make that mistake again. He already made that mistake, but it seems like Tom Brady hasn’t learned from it. What’s your take on TB12? After all, he’s just a rookie in broadcasting.
