Cameron Newton’s comments about Brady opened floodgates as more and more NFL figures keep getting involved. The former Carolina Panthers quarterback has called out a lot of NFL players and is under fire for his comments.  And this time, it’s C.J. Gardner Johnson who has chimed in with a taunt as he retweeted Jared Goff’s recent accomplishment.

Jared Goff, the quarterback for the Detroit Lions, was named the player of the match against the Denver Broncos. He completed over 278 passing yards and finished 5 touchdowns. Goff has been a pivotal part of the Lions’ wins, and Johnson rightfully supports him after Newton’s disrespectful comments about him.

In a controversial statement, Johnson said that players like Purdy, Tua, Goff, and Dak Prescott are game managers. Apparently, for him, these players aren’t difference-makers and are just secondary in terms of the team’s success. He said, “A gamе changеr is a truck. A gamе managеr is a trailеr. A truck pulls a tеam togеthеr and is thе rеason why this tеam is having succеss.”

Johnson retweeted Goff’s player of the game announcement and captioned it, “Game Manager.” Thus, he’s taunting Newton’s words just like the rest of the NFL community. Furthermore, Newton also snubbed great players like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning in the same sentence and put them in the same category as his supposed “game managers.”

Johnson terms Brady and Manning as “elite game managers”

After he made the comments about Goff and the others, it all went downhill for the free agent. He listed down five players who he thought were game-changers rather than game-managers and snubbed out Brady and Manning. According to Newton, a game changer is the truck while a game manager lugs behind and apparently, the 7-time Super Bowl winner is not more than an “elite game manager.”

He said, “There are only three to potentially five ‘game-changers’ in the NFL right now. Aaron Rodgers Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and Patrick Mahomes.” Thus, Newton has managed to play with fire and now will be facing the brunt of it all. As the entire NFL community seems to be coming for him to eat his words, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
