Do you know a reluctant roaster in your life? It’s time for you to know one: the CEO of UFC, Dana White, who opened up on the Club Shay Shay podcast about his doubts before taking down Tom Brady.

But in the end, his close relationship with the NFL GOAT worked, which somehow forced him to appear on the roast. Thank god their relationship paid off — and it did pay off well. After listening to the jokes, we could say it was writer White’s scripted wonder. 

White makes a big decision after roasting Brady

Besides the world of sports, White has gained recognition for his standup comedy. But little did he know that this side of his character would land him in so much trouble. We don’t know why Brady counted on him to appear on his roast — whether it was White’s talent in mastering the art of comedy or whether Brady would feel comfortable if his close pal roasted him. What is known, however, is that when Brady first approached the UFC president to roast him, he got cold feet. On the podcast, White confessed: “When he first asked me I hung up the phone and called. I said, ‘They must have paid you an ungodly amount of money to do this right?’ He said, “They really didn’t. I’m just a fan of roasts and I want to do it.” 

But this should not be the case since White has put himself in multiple uncomfortable situations in honor of his show Lookin’ for a Fight. He has also grilled the audience during standup comedy gigs. But roasting Brady came up with a new level of difficulty for him, “It is the hardest, it’s the most brutal worst thing that I’ve ever done in my life.” So much so that he made a promise, “I said I’d never do it again. I will really never do it again after this roast but I did I did it for Tom.” Having doubts, he reached out to comedy legends for the script.   

White collaborated with legends ahead of the Brady roast

Even though Brady found trust in White for the roast, the UFC CEO executed each move as if walking on eggshells. To ensure perfection, he reached out to several of his acquaintances before the event and even contacted friends who had mastered the art of comedy. Not many know that comedian Bill Burr came to White’s help and prepared the initial script for him.  

It might be the comedian’s idea that has inspired White to use the ‘woke’ ideology to begin the roast. The Burr touch could be felt in the UFC President’s jab when he injected Brady’s accolades in the joke, “Tom, you played for the Patriots for so long that I was actually starting to feel like you were from Boston. Then I saw you run and I was like, ‘No, he’s definitely from San Francisco.'” 

The 54-year-old White has made countless comments in the past and is a forceful advocate for free speech. However, when Brady’s name got involved, he became super-conscious.
