Speaking on his podcast show Let?s Go!, the former QB shared how another NFL legend was visibly frustrated with how things were coming together at the end of the season. Brady highlighted the blunder that was made by the then Indianapolis Colts‘ HC. Per the football legend, it could have been an altogether different result for the Colts and perhaps a different Super Bowl title winner if the situation had been dealt differently around the Week 14-16 back in 2007.

Tom Brady recalls an incident that left Peyton Manning frustrated

Peyton Manning is another revered figure in the NFL world and is a 2X SB champion. However, recently, Tom Brady shared an incident that could have left Manning short of one trophy. Speaking on his talk show Let?s Go! Brady highlighted how a blunder made by Colts HC Tony Dungy had left Manning furious.

Peyton Manning, who was the SB MVP for the season in 2007, was also the architect of the playoff victories. The playoff matchup for the Colts against the Baltimore Ravens was a pretty one-sided match.

However, the next matchup against the New England Patriots was a close game. Indianapolis Colts won both games and went to the finals. Interestingly, there was a very memorable incident that transpired against the Patriots. Recalling the same, Tom Brady said, ?Cause you remember, they pulled him in. He literally pulled the starters.”

During the episode, he further added, “Peyton was so mad and he wanted to go for that undefeated season too! They pulled the starters in and they lost to the Buffalo in the last week of the year.” Brady does have an incredible memory and shared how Dungy?s mistake nearly took the playoff berth away from the Colts. Moreover, Brady also took a dig at the refereeing in the ongoing NFL.

Tom Brady criticizes the 2023 NFL refereeing

Playing the NFL for almost two decades, Tom Brady is quite familiar with football refereeing. However, he isn’t too pleased with the refereeing standards in place in the ongoing season. In fact, he was quite critical of the one moment during the Sunday night game in Week 6. Per the GOAT’s observation; the referee should have called a penalty, which clearly wasn’t the case.

Reflecting on the same, Brady said, “Football is a physical sport, there’s a physical element to all of this, You throw a 15-yard flag for something that, you know, 20 years ago maybe wouldn’t have had a flag. That affects the game in a big way.” Brady was also excited about the sport being featured in the 2028 LA Olympics.

Peyton Manning and Tom Brady were arguably the greatest of rivals when it came to football. However, they also had mutual respect for each other and that admiration followed after their retirement as well. While Tom has admitted he never competed against Manning, they sure made it for a theatrical QB rivalry!
