Is Belichick right about the Jets' offense being the hardest to prepare for in the NFL?

A man with a plan! That was the highlight of Bill Belichick’s coaching career with the Patriots. However, his plan usually involved only Tom Brady when it came to offense, but he didn’t mind that for obvious reasons. Now, as he looks to continue his off-gridiron errands, Big Bill has warned the league that Aaron Rodgers’ Jets would be the hardest to prepare for.

It seems a new Bill Belichick show ‘Coach’ is around the corner. That would be exciting to keep up with. In one of its teasers, the 72-year-old said, “The Jets are one of the hardest teams to prepare for from a skill standpoint… On paper, they have a good offense. And they are hard to defend with a good quarterback, a great wide receiver, and a great running back.”

Let’s see what’s got Belichick believing in the Gang Green’s offensive line so much. It’s not a secret that the trio of Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, and Aaron Rodgers were the ones to watch out for last season. Unfortunately, the excitement was cut short with A-Rod’s untimely season-ending Achilles tear after just 4 games. But that did not mean the end of the road for either Wilson or Hall. They were the bright spots in a rather underwhelming season for the Jets. Wilson, not so much.

The 24-year-old sure caught 95 catches for 1,042 yards and that might mean the numbers would only increase with Aaron under center. But the 3 touchdowns in 17 games were a problem. And that’s where Breece Hall stepped up. The running back ran 994 Yds and 5 TDs on the ground and 76 catches for 591 yards and four scores as a receiver in the 2023 season. That too, without the compliments of Rodgers, rightly earning him Bill’s plaudits. The ex-Pats HC said, “Outstanding running back that has the ability to take the ball the distance. He’s very good in the passing game, and defensively you want to do everything you can to get the ball out of his hands and load the box.”

However, even loading the box would not work. Why? “The problem is, if you load the box, you’re singled out there on Wilson, and that’s a tall order,” Bill said. Easy picking for the golden arm of Aaron Rodgers. One darting throw and the defense is in the dust. If we are to go by Belichick’s words, then it’s all fireworks in the end zone. Especially with the 40-year-old signal caller back in the firing line. But what exactly are the expectations from the future Hall of Famer?

Brett Favre expects Aaron Rodgers to take the Jets to the Super Bowl

Have an interesting take?

Who better to set the bar for Aaron Rodgers than Packers royalty himself, Brett Favre? One Green Bay legend hyping another. But you might wonder, are Favre’s expectations a bit too lofty? He’s got Rodgers leading the Jets to Super Bowl contention in 2024, no questions asked. High stakes, right?

Favre didn’t sugarcoat it during an interview with Zach Gelb on August 22nd. He praised Rodgers’ “football IQ,” saying, “Throw the age out,” as if Rodgers isn’t playing at 40. Add in the Jets’ “stout” defense, and Favre sees the makings of a championship run. “If Aaron’s healthy, I expect what everyone else expects. That he leads that team to potentially a championship.” When you’ve got a playmaker like Rodgers paired with a top-tier defense, what else do you need? The former Packer believes they’ll not only compete for the division but might even be the conference champs. Bold, huh?

But what do you think? Can Rodgers live up to these high expectations? The odds certainly are not in favor, as Vegas has them tied with Buffalo for AFC East favorites. As for the Super Bowl contention? Well, they have the ninth-best odds of winning it. But the odds are just numbers waiting to be proven wrong. All eyes will be on Rodgers to see if he can make it. If anyone can, it’s him.
