It seems as if Taylor Swift continues to be a heated topic of discussion in the NFL. The global pop icon has been making the news ever since she started dating Travis Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. The pair of Kelce-Swift might very well be one of the most influential couples in the NFL but it seems as if another couple is in the race just behind them.

Simone Biles, the Olympic medal gymnast, has been married to Jonathan Owens for over 6 months now. Jonathan Owens is the strong safety for the Green Bay Packers and as such, his wife comes to his games every so often. The problem arose when fans pointed out the difference in coverage when it came to Swift versus Biles. The network would pan to Swift every so often but it wasn’t the case when Biles would come for Owens’ matches. Jason Whitlock, Deion Sanders’ most famous hater, took to his channel to debunk these conspiracy theories.

On the latest episode of the Jason Whitlock show, he had a lot to say about the recent controversy that has arisen about the two popular celebrities. The video ended up with a conversation where it was talked about how Taylor Swift has a larger audience than Simone Biles. Furthermore, they even talked about how Travis Kelce is a much bigger deal than Jonathan Owens and why he might very well be one of the best tight ends in history.

Whitlock said, “Taylor Swift is a bigger deal than Simone. The television networks are only interested in that Taylor Swift has a huge audience that might become NFL fans, Simone Biles does not have some huge audience that might become NFL fans so the television networks aren’t interested.” Thus, he helps in debunking all the conspiracy theories that have been talking about the disparity that the NFL has been showing in terms of television coverage. Though the fans got their answer, they have still not gotten over the phase of the NFL covering Taylor Swift relentlessly during the matches of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The fans were upset with the constant attention on Taylor Swift

When the rumors of Kelce-Swift dating started to surface, the fandom of the Swifties came together to find out the truth about the situation. Kelce would talk about how he gained a massive amount of 2.8 million followers on Instagram since his pairing with Swift. But what happened on the gridiron is what set the fans on a frenzy about the couple.

Swift started to come to the matches of the Kansas City Chiefs to show support for her alleged boyfriend, Kelce but it seemed like the NFL was most excited about the news. The television coverage would constantly pan to her if she would ever make a reaction and this upset the football fans. They would talk about how it was unfair to deprive them of the actual coverage of the sport and show them Swift relentlessly. In a move that was disliked by Kelce himself, the NFL changed their Twitter banner to photos of Swift and changed their bio to “Chiefs are 2-0 as swifties.” After issuing an apology, the NFL promised to alter its ways and bring about a drastic change in how it shows core football on its networks.
