After hyping the whole nation with an impressive 3-0 season start, Coach Prime Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes now suffer a miserable 4-7 overall record. But even if the team has lost their bowl eligibility, none can say that Coach Prime didn’t do an incredible job in Colorado reviving the Buffs from their 1-11 record last season. Besides, he accomplished great feats including selling out every game and raking in one of the highest views in college football.

Now Coach Prime has a lot of fans who would support him through thick and thin. But he also has his fair share of haters who found the opportunity to drag him down as Colorado now advances to their final game on November 26 after another devastating defeat against Washington State. But among several other notable figures vouching for Coach Prime, former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson makes it clear that Deion Sanders is still a legend despite successive losses.

A lot of naysayers popped up on Twitter following Colorado’s 56-14 blowout loss from Washington State. In a recent episode on Undisputed, Keyshawn Johnson was asked if Deion Sanders’ first year at Colorado was a success or failure in the bigger picture. The 51-year-old replied with “success” without a moment’s pause and added, “You can’t even put a number on the success.”

Johnson went on to say that Deion Sanders took a program that had one win and raised it to four wins this season. But that isn’t the only transformation that Coach Prime brought to Boulder. Deion Sanders said from day one that he knew his team, he knew what he had, and that they were not playing to anyone’s expectations. But as the honeymoon phase vanished and the consecutive losses started coming in, he had to face a lot of negative criticism.

The former SB champion went on to say that people are jealous “because he’s Deion Sanders” and he was “able to get a power five job immediately as soon as he had success at the HBCU level.” And now that Colorado is 4-7, critics are pointing out that Coach Prime didn’t live up to his hype. But did he?

Not everyone can revive a dying team like the Colorado Buffaloes like the way Coach Prime did. He led the team to a promising 3-0 start, all the while generating income for Colorado through various endorsements, NIL deals, and ticket sales. Because of him, Colorado sold out every game this season.

The last Washington State defeat marked their fifth consecutive loss but Deion Sanders remains confident in his team and unfazed by naysayers. After all, no matter how good you get, there’s always going to be criticism. He said, “Didn’t we sell out every game? Did this team get better? Isn’t there hope still? So what’s the problem? …We didn’t live up to whose expectations?”

Haters will have a lot to say about Coach Prime and Colorado if they fail to secure a win in their final game. With Shedeur Sanders still recovering from injuries from the previous game, it may be a tough game for the Buffs who will be facing the Utah Utes in their next game. But no matter how the season ends, Coach Prime Deion Sanders will have a lasting impression on Colorado.
