Mexican businessman Fernando Anzures, founder, and director of EXMA, sure knows a thing or two about bringing legends together. He is a principal figure behind organizing the ‘Heroes & Doers’ event that will be taking place at the National Auditorium in Mexico City and has painted retired NFL legend, Tom Brady as one of its paramount figures. However, the tycoon’s path to Brady was paved by another eminent American leader whom he had hosted in the recent past.

EXMA, a platform for content, marketing, and leadership training, pledges to showcase iconic figures from the realms of business, sports, and entertainment under a single platform as they share their tales of success at the exclusive event to be held in Mexico on October 24 and 25.

Former president of the United States, Barack Obama, was involved in one of EXMA’s events, and the founder, Anzures, acknowledged how his presence was pivotal in leading to their introduction to retired NFL legend Tom Brady. “Having Barack Obama in 2019 allowed us to go through processes that gave us a green flag to contact very high-level speakers; he took us to Tom Brady’s office,” Anzures told EFE, before speaking about how he was told that his company was one of the most reliable companies in Latin America and therefore, met all the required characteristics for Brady’s involvement.

Anzures later recounted a conversation with Brady that illuminated the impact the former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback would have on Mexican entrepreneurs. He believes that Brady will be able to shed considerable light on matters relating to how to work on their mind to make it an ally,” and how to go from being a “’Actuator’ or ‘Doer’ to the Hero.” However, when the business tycoon asked Brady, “When did you dream of being the best in history?” the seven-time Super Bowl winner’s answer was certainly not what he was expecting.

“Nobody believed in me” Brady inverts criticism into motivation

Nothing drives one more than the quest to prove someone wrong. That is exactly what fueled Brady to the exceptional heights he was able to reach. In conversation with the Mexican businessman, he revealed, I never dreamed of being the best of all time. I dreamed of being the best version of myself, since, nobody believed in me, not even after my first Super Bowl.” Brady turned criticism and disbelief into a competition to better himself and ultimately become better than anyone else on the field.

The New England Patriots drafted Tom Brady as the 199th pick in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft. At that time, the team already had a franchise QB in Drew Bledsoe and a dependable veteran backup in Damon Huard. Few had high expectations for the tall, slender kid from Michigan. However, over the years, he rapidly solidified his position as one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. Brady has spoken extensively about the power of the mind and cognitive training that allows individuals to outperform others. It is absolutely in line with what the ‘Heroes & Doers’ initiative seeks to endorse- “because anyone who makes a real plan can achieve whatever they set their minds to.”
