Tom Brady, the NFL legend, has come under fire for his recent opinions on the NFL. The 41-year-old has been enjoying the finer things in life ever since his retirement in February 2023. While he has his hands busy with his entrepreneurial ventures, he talks about football from time to time. But Brady’s recent statement did nothing but attract negative publicity from his fans.
In a recent episode of his popular ‘Let’s Go!’ podcast, Brady talked about the current status of the NFL. He said, “There’s so many people that want it less and less physical, it’s more like flag football, which is going to be in the Olympics in 2028. Maybe football goes to flag football over a period of time.” It’s evident that the 6-time Super Bowl winner is not happy with how the NFL has become a bit too sensitive about the rules of fouling.

After Brady made the controversial remark about the state of fouling in the NFL, he invoked a response from his former teammate at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rob Gronkowski, the former Tight End for the Bucs, called out Brady for his remarks and stated that Brady is only complaining about the sport because he’s not playing anymore.

Gronkowski said, “I mean, it was already flag football for you, brother. You’re not playing anymore, that’s why you’re saying that.” He proved his point by discussing a specific matchup where Brady played against the Atlanta Falcons. In the game, the Falcons got a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty, which ultimately proved consequential in the Bucs’ 21-15 win. Brady has walked away from the NFL but keeps up with the sport. However, the fans can’t help but wonder if he’ll ever return to football in the flesh.

As of now, it doesn’t seem likely that Brady will be returning to don the No. 12 jersey soon. He has taken a step back from football for good and wants it to remain that way until a golden opportunity falls into his lap. When asked if he would ever return as a coach, he said there might be a possibility in the future, but he had no plans.
Brady’s retirement left a void in the hearts of football fans worldwide. He had a glorious 23-season career with 6 Super Bowl wins, the most of any player in NFL history. Thus, he left behind a legacy that will be difficult to compete against for several generations. While his return isn’t promised, the fans will always have their eyes set on the stadium as they wait for Brady to come out in his orange jersey again.
