The Patriots outperformed their opponents, surprisingly, on December 24, thanks to Bailey Zappe. The QB gifted another soothing win to his team. While this spelled good news for the Patriots, it also multiplied the clouds of uncertainty around Mac Jones’s position in the team. Jones’ performance this season hasn’t been ideal and has time and again been associated with the team’s underwhelming performance.
Nonetheless, despite all the disappointing games, the win against the Broncos is a massive milestone for the team and coach Bill Belichick this season. Arguably, as a last shot to redemption, Belichick made a few changes in the rooster in week 12, which led to the Patriots possibly getting Tom Brady 2.0: Bailey Zappe. This statement of Zappe’s excellence was confidently supported by Skip Bayless in a brutal comparison.

The win against the Broncos has once again brought the Patriots under the limelight; this time for good reasons. However, the same cannot be said about the QB Mac Jones. The 25-year-old has faced quite a criticism because of the underwhelming run of the New England Patriots and Zappe’s skills against the Broncos have just flamed the same.
The latest opinion has come forth from none other than Skip Bayless. Professional analyst and part-time critic gave his two cents on the Broncos vs. Patriots showdown. Bayless wrote, “Zappe>>>>>>>>>Mac. (which isn’t saying a lot).” As expected, it was hailing the star of the evening Zappe, while Jones had some unexpected jibes thrown at him.
It was Bailey Zappe’s night with his two touchdown passes in a hard-fought 26-23 win over the Denver Broncos. If stats were to be taken into account, then Mac Jones, in his 11 starting games, passed 224 passes for 2,120 yards, with 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, all while winning just one game.

On the other hand, the 2022 fourth round pick Zappe, in his 4 starting games has won two games, with racking in 719 yards on 123 attempts for 4 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. No wonder the fans and critics are already rooting for the young professional; so much so that some of them have made Zappe’s comparison to the legendary Tom Brady.

When Patriots picked Tom Brady as the compensatory player as 199th pick, they thought of him to be the average player, given his not-so-impressive college record with Michigan. It was only after he fought his way from being the fourth string QB to the starting QB, followed by the popular history of 6 Super Bowl rings for the team, that he achieved the fame he has today.

Well, even if Zappe got his break way earlier than Brady, he has brought an almost hopeless Patriots in the headlines again for positive record, something that requires a ton of persistence. In his rookie season as well, Zappe started 2 games and won both of them, all while establishing himself as a promising player.

Whether he is truly Brady 2.0, as fans want to vigorously believe, is a question left to be answered by Zappe’s future records. But, from the looks of it, the recent clash of the Patriots has brought some positive vibes to the team as they will be probably looking forward to only improve from here on.
