Anyone who keeps regular tabs on Antonio Brown would probably know what he is up to these days. Most of the time, you can find the former Steelers WR posting controversial things on his X with #CTESPN. Well, those notorious activities have made him quite unpopular among the NFL community. However, the side that none of us knew came out on the back of a deadly terrorist attack in New Orleans.
For those 15 families who lost their loved ones on New Year’s Eve celebrations in the French Quarter. Brown has started a $100,000 GoFundMe campaign to help each one of those families affected. “This has nothing to do with me and everything to do with helping the families who lost their loved ones in New Orleans. I will work with GoFundMe to make sure any dollar raised is split between the 15 families who lost their loved ones on January 1st. Prayers.” What happened in New Orleans shook the very foundation of New Year celebrations all over the country.

Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old US citizen, drove his car through a crowd gathered at the French Quarter. Well, Jabbar wasn’t an ordinary US citizen. He also had a flag of a terrorist org in his vehicle while ramming 15 people to death. Later on, when police arrived on the scene, they neutralized Jabbar in a firefight along the lines of Bourbon Street. Apart from crushing 15 people, Jabbar also injured an additional 30 of them, who were later hospitalized.

However, seeing Brown starting a GoFundMe will certainly raise some eyebrows, considering his financial troubles. Since declaring bankruptcy in May, it looks like Antonio Brown is slowly turning his fortunes around. With this latest move, he may earn the respect of the NFL community, whom he has disrespected quite a few times. Now, Antonio Brown wasn’t the only one who spoke against what happened in New Orleans. The Saints’ interim head coach, Darren Rizzi, also condemned the horrific events in his community.
Darren Rizzi sends a powerful message condemning the terrorist attack in New Orleans
Among those 15 people who were killed in New Orleans, former Princeton football player Tiger Bech was among the unfortunate ones. So, to showcase solidarity with those affected by the deadly New Year’s Eve attack, Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley decided to postpone the College Football playoff game between Georgia and Notre Dame, which was supposed to go live in New Orleans. “Public safety is paramount. All parties all agree that it’s the best interest of everybody and public safety that we postpone the game,” as per Jeff Hundley.

Besides Hundley, Rizzi also described the incident as unforgivable. “Today’s obviously a very somber day in our community. I want to send out my personal heartfelt condolences, thoughts, and prayers to all the victims in this senseless shooting and attack early this morning in the French Quarter. It’s hard to understand, and it’s really hard to comprehend why these things keep happening in our country.” For Rizzi, this incident made him remember those deadly 2001 terrorist attacks.

Have an interesting take?
“At the time, I was the head coach at the University of New Haven. I had a lot of players from the New York City area. I had players that lost family members, and firefighters. One of my coach’s friends lost a brother who was a firefighter. I went to a lot of memorials and funerals.” Terrorist attacks and rogue shooters have continued to plague the US over the years. And this latest chapter only adds to the horror the nation has faced in recent times. So we can’t help but raise this question: When are the authorities going to wake up and protect the innocent lives who continue getting sacrificed in thousands every year?
