Every penny, every dollar, and every ounce of support can make a world of difference for families in LA devastated by the recent wildfires. Imagine waking up one day to find everything you owned reduced to ash—your home, your memories, your sense of stability—gone overnight. For the Jenkins family in Altadena, California, that nightmare became their reality. But when tragedy strikes, kindness has a way of stepping up. That’s exactly what Michael Strahan‘s Good Morning America is doing—rallying to help the Jenkins family rebuild their lives from the ground up.

On January 16th, GMA made a big announcement for its viewers. Three of its hosts, Michael Strahan, Ginger Zee, and Robin Roberts, were going to visit California to assist LA wildfire victims. And let’s just say they didn’t just assist those emotionally devasted families. Strahan’s GMA changed the life of the Jenkins family, who lost 9 homes in the area.

Global Empowerment Mission spokesperson Michael Capponi announced that the Jenkins family would receive $135,000 in donations. He also added, “It’s a small step, but trust…everyone is doing what they can all throughout the world to support everyone here.” Well, instantly after hearing the news, the Jenkins family broke down in tears and told GMA how it would help them rebuild homes they had lost to the LA fire: “We’ve got family scattered from here to Orange County and Arizona. Thank You,” said one of the Jenkins cousins, Ed Broussard.

Several Jenkins family members had been living in Altadena within a 2-mile radius for generations. However, the Eaton Fire, which started 10 days ago, has burned over 7,000 structures, leaving 14,000 acres of only houses in ashes. Before those wildfires came along, Altadena, which mainly caters to Black and Brown communities, boasted more than 42,000 people. But after the horrifying effects of wildfire, almost everything has turned into rubble.

So, seeing such levels of disaster can make anyone lose hope of ever finding normalcy again. However, the Jenkins family aren’t one of those who would lose faith that easily: “We’re rebuilding. I’m not going anywhere. I don’t care who it is. My family, we are staying. We got electricians in the family. We got carpenters in the family. We’re rebuilding.” Well, what can we even say about that motivation to stand back up even when the odds are against you? As for the Jenkins family, the $135,000 they received would surely help them to start rebuilding from ground zero.

Now, the Jenkins family was fortunate enough to receive GMA’s help. But GMA’s co-host, Michael Strahan, may not be so fortunate regarding his home in LA.

Michael Strahan could be the latest victim of LA wildfires

Going back to last year, the former Giants defensive back gave a sneak peek to his glorious LA home. Strahan’s daughter, Isabella, studies at the University of Southern California and spends most of her time at their family home in LA. Even Strahan shared a few pictures from his stunning home in LA last year on Instagram. Well, the photo that Isabella apparently took featured Strahan sitting in a widely spacious living room with his two dogs, Enzo and Zuma. It also had a Christmas tree and a few paintings on the wall to offer an aesthetic feel to the background.

But amid the LA wildfires that have already burned more than 30,000 acres. Isabella has already fled from their Los Angeles home. She has gone back to New York City, where Strahan has an apartment close to the GMA studios. Although there hasn’t been any confirmation yet, this shows that the threat of Strahan’s LA home coming at the crossroads of wildfire is real. For now, we just hope that Strahan and others who are still probably not affected remain safe. And those who have found themselves victims, like the Jenkins family, continue their fight against the most devasting wildfire Los Angeles has ever seen.
