“The first thing that went through my mind was this must be a mistake. It didn’t seem real.” Those were Michael Strahan’s words after he found out that his daughter, Isabella Strahan, had medulloblastoma—a malignant brain tumor. After undergoing a number of surgeries and multiple rounds of chemo and radiation therapy, Isabella beat the cancer, and now she’s a cancer survivor.

But here’s the thing: Isabella never allowed medulloblastoma to define her. And now, she and her family are all set to open up about her fight against cancer in the upcoming documentary “Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahan’s Fight Against Cancer,” premiering Wednesday, February 5, at 10/9c on ABC. Speaking of which, ABC News hit up their official Instagram handle on Sunday and shared a clip from the documentary.

In the clip, Strahan’s ex-wife and Isabella’s mom, Jean Muggli, confessed the struggles and challenges Isabella faced after her surgery. “When she started standing up like she was gonna walk, I realized, ‘Oh, it’s hard for her to figure out to put her feet on the ground,”‘ Strahan’s ex-wife stated. In the shared clip, Isabella can be seen taking her first steps in rehabilitation following surgery for brain cancer.

Isabella’s family has been her rock throughout this journey. She shared that her mom stayed by her side, even sleeping at the hospital during her recovery after brain surgery. And then there’s her twin sister, Sophia—the first to notice something was wrong. She immediately stepped up and told her parents about Isabella’s condition. From the start, Sophia took it upon herself to take care and be there for Isabella, making sure she never faced this fight alone.

On the other hand, while recalling his difficult journey as a father, Michael Strahan also opened up about how tough it’s been watching his daughter go through this battle, saying. “It’s tough to see someone who is usually energetic, vibrant, just a lovely human, be basically incapacitated.”

Talking to the PEOPLE last month, Strahan also talked about his nervousness will never go away, saying, Her doctors feel very confident, she’s going to be fine. That’s what we’re going to hold on to, but you’re nervous every time. That will never go away but as long as the results come back positive, then we’ll live to fight another day.” On top of that, he also recalled those tough days in the documentary and stated, “She wasn’t eating much. She was thin and tired and bald and all the things you hate to see your kid go through.” No wonder the NFL legend will never forget the past one and a half years.
