Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are back! Although not returning to the league to play more games, they’re back to entertain fans through the $18 billion giant broadcasting brand. And this time, Brady showed his support when the entire crew decided to prank Gronkowski on the live TV show.
On one side, Brady is winning hearts with his announcing skills on FOX Sports, while on the other, Rob Gronkowski is driving fans crazy with his hosting skills. But on Sunday, Gronk himself became the topic of the FOX NFL show. During the show, he was asked about a fake Dallas Cowboys tight end named Rich Russo, who is actually FOX’s lead for the NFL broadcast team. After being asked to talk about this fake TE by the co-hosts, Gronk initially got confused but later responded by saying Russo might get opportunities this season.
As expected, not knowing much about Russo, Gronk then cleverly shifted the conversation to the well-known Cowboys player, Jake Ferguson. Seeing this, Tom Brady couldn’t be prouder of his friend and former teammate for skillfully handling the awkward live moment. Sharing the video of the prank on his official Instagram account as a story, Tom Brady wrote, “You can’t do this to @gronk (with laughing emojis). Way play it like a pro Robby G.”

However, he also praised the FOX Sports studio, saying, “The best studio in the business. In front of and behind the cameras.” Well, you can’t deny Tom Brady on this, as they decided to target Rob Gronkowski for a prank, leading him to baffle over the unexpected topic.
So, what happened was the legendary NFL tight end, Rob Gronkowski, known for his expertise in tight ends, was put in a situation where his colleagues set him up during what he believed was a live segment. The prank was that a fictional Pro Bowl tight end named “Russo” had been activated by the Dallas Cowboys, and Gronkowski had to comment on him.
As his co-workers talked about Russo’s impact, calling him a Pro Bowler, Gronkowski, who appeared clearly confused, still played along, trying to sound knowledgeable. He said, “Uh, he’s been out for a little bit so he might be a little rusty coming back, but I think they’re going to give him the opportunities, that’s for sure, but also they got [Jake] Ferguson as well, so they’re going to be a 1-2 combo.” Gronk quickly shifted the conversation to tight end Jake Ferguson, but the pranksters kept bringing Russo back into the discussion.
The real twist came, and things got weirder when co-host Terry Bradshaw said Russo had two missing fingers. Gronk, still unsure, questioned, “So, is that going to affect him when he’s catching a pass?” as he tried to keep the conversation going until everyone burst into laughter and revealed the joke. This shocked Gronkowski, and later he admitted that the prank had his “head spinning,” and that “I was going to say right when it was done, ‘Guys, I’ve never heard of Rich Russo in my life.”
