Remember when Brett Favre was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016—how he took a moment to praise his wife? “The strongest and most courageous person I know,” Favre said in his Hall of Fame speech, referencing Deanna. Now, 9 years later, Favre is yet again recouping his thoughts about Deanna. But this time, he does it by using Bible verses and showing a whole lot of gratitude for having someone like Deanna by his side through thick and thin.
On Tuesday, Favre shared some cute photos of him and Deanna on his X. In one of those snaps, Favre was holding the humanitarian award he won at Super Bowl LIX. To make his post more special, Favre even cited, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.” Proverbs 18:22 ♥️🙏.” Through this sudden praise, Favre conveyed to Deanna that he still harbors the same amount of love the two shared from age 14.
Yep, Deanna and Favre are one of the rarest high school lovers who have managed to stay together no matter what. Their relationship took a leap when Favre went to the University of Southern Mississippi and Deanna to a nearby community college. While still in college, Favre and Deanna welcomed parenthood at 19. They welcomed their daughter, Brittany, in 1989. However, it wasn’t always smooth sailing, like some would have seen from the outside.

Deanna once revealed how the pair took frequent breaks in their relationship. “There were times when we were broken up, and we were seeing other people. But we still talked. I always if the relationship didn’t work out, we could always be friends,” said Deanna. But after much contemplation, Deanna finally decided to give this relationship a real shot. She moved to Wisconsin to stay with Favre and build their family again, with Brittany at the center of things.

Then, after years of dating, the couple shared wedding vows in 1996. Over a decade after Brittany was born, Breleigh came into their life as their second daughter in 1999. Even after so many years have passed since they started dating, for Favre, his wife is still “as beautiful today as she was Dec.18, 1983, in my living room.” While the Packers legend finds himself immersed head over heels for his wife, his troubles in the courtroom aren’t finished.
Mississippi judge squashes a defamation lawsuit protecting Brett Favre
In April 2022, Mississippi Today published a five-part series called “The Backchannel” that detailed a $77M welfare scandal where Governor Bryant and Brett Favre are named key perpetrators. This report, for which Anna Wolfe won a Pulitzer award, uncovers stories where millions of dollars that were supposed to reach welfare families went elsewhere. Mississippi, deemed the nation’s second poorest state, found those diverted to Favre’s alma matter, Southern Miss, for a volleyball facility. Favre and Bryant, who hasn’t been convicted yet, have denied knowing those funds were designed for welfare families.

Brett Favre's love story: Genuine devotion or a distraction from his legal woes?

So, to win back some of their lost respect, then-Mississippi governor Bryant filed a defamation lawsuit against Wolfe and Mississippi Today. However, after two years of courtroom battles, a Mississippi judge finally put an end to this case. Madison County Circuit Court Judge Bradley Mills dismissed Bryant’s lawsuit once and for all. This led to Mississippi Today’s attorney Lee Crain into celebratory mode as he called Wolfe’s stories, “exactly the type of reporting the First Amendment was intended to protect.” Crain also added, “this ruling ends once and for all Governor Bryant’s unconstitutional crusade against Mississippi’s free press.”
But this story is supposedly far from over. Bryant’s attorney, Billy Quinn, in a counter-claim, said, “this case will likely end up on appeal before the Mississippi Supreme Court. This matter is far from over. Governor Bryant remains confident in the legal basis and righteousness of his case.” So, only time will tell whether this verdict will stand firm with Favre in line to face punishment. Or will a Supreme Court appeal change the whole verdict, giving Favre and Bryant the relief they are hoping for?
