Mark Zuckerberg‘s Meta made some exciting announcements! Their newly announced celebrity-based AI characters have generated a lot of buzz and excitement among the fans—famous figures like Tom Brady, Charlie D’Amelio, and many others have their own AI chatbots. However, as cool as the bots seem, they also have their flaws.

While testing various Meta AI characters, the chatbots were discovered to be providing misinformation. Not only that, they unacknowledged the brands, sponsors, and businesses the celebrity figures work with. The same happened in responses from Tom Brady’s AI character. And, the results were honestly very embarrassing.

The chatbots are aided by Meta’s Llama 2 generative AI technology to generate human-like responses. Besides such great features, they can also generate facial expressions resembling various celebrities. Moreover, they look very life-like. Despite the similarity, there exist huge differences between the real and the created. And they exhibited their limitations.

Brady’s chatbot, Bru, was asked about the NFL legend’s favorite TB12 snack. Surprisingly, Bru had no idea what TB12 was at all. The star has a line of TB12 protein powders and snacks that helped him stay on the football field for more than two decades and keep up with his wellness. The chatbot was unaware of that fact and said he prefers ‘old fashioned pizza and wings’. To make it worse, Bru posted a recipe for a snack that included tomatoes. And, Brady is allergic to tomatoes.

The test resulted in a blunder. Besides making such a serious mistake regarding Tom Brady’s preferences, the chatbots displayed similar flaws in their responses as other celebrities. Charlie D’ Amelio’s AI Coco, dissed the brand she has been in a multi-year partnership with. Such responses can be problematic and give rise to systematic challenges.

Such mistakes by AI can have real-world consequences. As Tom Brady mentioned in a podcast, technology is extremely advanced right now but can also provide much misinformation. People can have way higher expectations from these bots and believe everything they say. Not to mention, it not only leads to disappointments but also certain consequences as per the situation.

According to the Meta Spokesperson, the AIs are not designed to mention brands that are paying the advertisers. Even though any content creator will be able to create their own chatbot, they would have to be extremely aware of the cons if the sponsorships are significant to them. Under the limelight, one can potentially get into an unwanted sticky situation.
