One of the hottest news stories on the internet right now is the rumor that New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers could be a potential running mate for presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. RFK Jr. has just confirmed in the New York Times that Rodgers, along with Jesse Ventura is among the list of potential running mates. It shouldn’t come as a shocker. After all, the Super Bowl MVP doesn’t hide his support for Kennedy.

The intriguing part of this news is that Rodgers hasn’t spoken out on RFK Jr.’s claims. Nor have the Jets for that matter. Stephen A. Smith slammed the Jets for their no-comment and the attention that Rodgers is shining on them.

In a recent episode of the Stephen A. Smith Show, the 56-year-old TV personality gave a brief update on Aaron Rodgers. The 4x NFL MVP is an “ardent supporter of Kennedy,” and is reportedly set to return to the Jets this season with a $35 million salary after a season-ending injury in his debut year in New York. Smith roasts the Jets for their silence saying, “What the hell can they say? If you’re the New York Jets, you should be happy you’re getting headlines because that damn sure ain’t for what you do on the football field.”

Last season, after losing Rodgers in a torn Achilles season-ending injury in the season opener against the Buffalo Bills, the Jets went 7-10, sinking to third in the AFC East. There are rumors that the 40-year-old could return this season but amidst the presidential rumors, the Jets are reportedly not keen on seeing Rodgers in the White House. A source reported, “Lots of the Jets coaches and players want Aaron to commit to the team and worry about winning the Super Bowl over a chance to be in the White House.” So, what’s the potential direction that Rodgers might take?

Aaron Rodgers – Politics or football?

Despite Aaron Rodgers remaining silent on the matter, the factor that drives this speculation of him considering this political career is that he has things in common with RFK Jr. who is running as an independent candidate. Both of them shared the same anti-COVID vaccine belief when Rodgers wished to side with Kennedy whom he called “my man, RFK Jr.” in his appearance on Pat McAfee‘s show.

Rodgers later told McAfee about the anti-COVID vaccine, “I believe in medical freedom and informed consent, and I’m voting for Robert Kennedy Jr.” Other instances of Rodgers and Kennedy’s bond include a hike together as well as the time when the Jets QB uploaded a Kennedy campaign video and captioned, “This is presidential.” Speculations will be put to rest when Kennedy declares his running mate in Oakland on March 26.
