“I was just telling him how much I love him.” This is how Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce described his dust-up with Head Coach Andy Reid on the sideline in the second quarter of their Super Bowl game against the 49ers. By the night’s end, both Reid and Kelce were hugging each other as they celebrated another Super Bowl triumph. But their altercation got the fans talking and now NFL legend Tom Brady has also chimed in on what he thought of the incident.

The former Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady appeared on his podcast to offer the fans his perspective on the emotional rollercoaster that unfolded on the sidelines. Brady noted how he himself has been a part of being part of such emotionally challenging moments in his long career.

When questioned about the incident on his podcast ‘Let’s Go’, adding a personal touch, Brady commented, “I don’t mind seeing it..cause I was a part of all of those. You think emotions are so high, you are definitely not centered in balance, you are not in a meditative state at that point. You are fully determined to go out for and to win.” He then showed his appreciation for Andy Reid on how he dealt with Kelce’s emotions.

Brady added, “I actually think Coach Reid handled it just awesome like he always does cause he just said you know, ‘I was a little off balance and Travis is such a competitor’ and I just love that because it speaks to his leadership ability. Because some coaches would get so sensitive and all ‘you embarrassed me and you did that.’” Brady also highlighted the competitive side of Kelce.

The seven-time Super Bowl winner said, “Man, you’re a competitor, you’re an athlete. And you get out there and you’ve had the credibility that Travis has and you’ve had that All-Pro experience and you’ve won Super Bowls.”

The Super Bowl LVIII experienced a blowup on Sunday as the Chiefs took charge of the field. The altercation happened during the second quarter of the 25-22 overtime win of the Chiefs when Kelce approached coach Reid on the sideline. Yelling at the coach, the tight end even bumped him. Travis Kelce later addressed the dust-up with the HC during the Super Bowl.

Talking to ESPN after the win he said, “You guys saw that? I’m going to keep it between us unless my mic’d up tells the world. I was just telling him how much I loved him.” This was also not the first time a sideline incident involved Kelce and Reid this season.

On Christmas Day, when the Chiefs faced the Raiders Travis Kelce spiked his helmet on the sideline. When a staff member tried to hand it back to the tight end Reid grabbed the helmet and refused to give it back. Meanwhile, Brady’s take on the Kelce-Reid clash takes us back in time.

There was another incident on another Sunday game from December 2017, when during the Patriots’ game against the Buffalo Bills, tensions flared between quarterback Brady and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. During the first offensive drive, following an incomplete pass on a third-down play, McDaniels said something hinting at Brady. Even though the clash initially failed to gain momentum, it later erupted in a heated exchange between Brady and McDaniels on the sidelines.
