Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the New York Jets, is set to make a comeback, but the fans aren’t too happy with the decision. The 40-year-old had been out with a severe injury since last season, but in a recent announcement, the New York Jets named him as one of the players on the 53-man roster. But this announcement has been met with a lot of scrutiny from the fans, who believe that he hasn’t fully recovered yet and that the Jets are rushing for his return.
The New York Jets played against the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium, where the Rodgers’ tragedy struck. He sustained a torn Achilles tendon after a sack by a Bills player and had to be carried off the field just 5 minutes into the game. His injury was deemed to be career-ending, but four months later, he was announced to return. This decision has drawn a lot of criticism from the NFL community, and Skip Bayless’ recent words emphasized the situation a bit more vividly.

On the latest episode of the ‘Undisputed’ show, Skip Bayless went off on Aaron Rodgers after the Jets announced that he would be a part of the squad. Rodgers, the quarterback for the New York Jets, was severely injured against the Buffalo Bills in his debut match for the team and has been out since with a severe Achilles leg injury. Bayless said, “Aaron Rodgers is the all-time master media manipulator. He just pulled off becoming year-long the most talked about, written about, and debated about New York Jet, and he played four snaps this year. He managed to keep himself in the center of attention, week after week after week.” But amid all the chaos, here’s what Rodgers himself had to say about the Jets’ decision.
Aaron Rodgers protests against the Jets’ announcement and claims that it wasn’t his call.
On the latest episode of the ‘Pat McAfee ‘ show, Rodgers appeared as a guest to talk about all the critics that have been targeting him recently. The fans have been upset about the fact that the Jets’ fullback Nick Bawden had to be cut from the team to make room for Rodgers, even though he’d be spending most of his time in rehab.

Rodgers stated that he wanted to be put on the injury reserves and didn’t want to take a spot from a player, which is exactly what occurred with Bawden. He said, “I assumed I was going to go on IR. I asked to be put on IR. There was a conversation, ‘Do you want to practice?’ and I said, ‘Not at the expense of somebody getting cut.’ I know how this works. I didn’t feel like I needed to practice to continue my rehab. I could do on-the-field stuff on the side.” Thus, it doesn’t seem that Rodgers himself is happy with the Jets’, and it will be interesting to see how the team reacts to the major surge of backlash over Rodgers’ return.
