Colin Kaepernick, the former QB for the San Francisco 49ers, hasn’t had the best NFL career but the same cannot be said for his net worth. The 35-year-old athlete has had a controversial time in the NFL ever since his release from the 49ers in 2017. Kaepernick was released from the 49ers on grounds of political disobedience, per numerous sources. He would take a knee in solidarity with the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement right before the American national anthem would start playing and well, this inclusion of politics into the sport wasn’t appreciated by the NFL. Hence, this led to his release.
However, the San Francisco 49ers released a statement saying that his talent didn’t match with the team’s future. While it was never officiated, the NFL community knew the real reason for his exit all too well. Interestingly, though, where everyone expected Kaepernick to be surviving with difficulty due to a 7-year hiatus, he seems to be living a life with all of the luxuries.

Per numerous sources, he is a car enthusiast as he possess several expensive cars including Mercedes Benz, Range Rover, and Toyota. When Kaepernick was sidelined from the NFL dynamics, he went his own separate way. He gained commendable success as an advocate for racial injustice and promoted equal rights, something he has stood for many a times.
The reason for the same probably lies in the fact that the former professional has himself been subjected to racial discrimination as a child. When just a baby, Kaepernick’s mom who was just 19 when she gave birth to him, gave him up for adoption. Thankfully, he was welcomed by a very loving family.
Alas! It also opened the gates of racial slurs for the young baby as he started growing up. Recalling one of the incident, Colin Kaepernick once revealed, “We used to go on driving vacations in summer and stay at motels. And every year, in every motel’s lobby, the same thing happened, getting only worse as I got taller and older.“

Thus, when the incident with the NFL authorities took place which reflected a major part of his childhood, Kaepernick made the bold move to not accept this blatant use of power and went to court with the NFL, something that’s never been done before by a player.

The battle of the ages: The NFL v/s the wronged Colin Kaepernick
Colin Kaepernick became a free agent after his release from the 49ers in 2016. He demonstrated his fighting spirit when he chose to sue the NFL in 2017 on grounds of grievance alleging collusion by team owners. In the end, he walked out a victor when he reached a settlement with the NFL.
He was awarded a sum somewhat less than $10 Million as multiple reports suggested. Kaepernick proved to the league that they have a voice that deserves to be heard and can’t be exploited. The former quarterback won the battle for sure but unfortunately, the NFL won the war. After the settlement, Kaepernick never got the opportunity to return to the gridiron as no teams would readily sign him. Now, 7 years later, he’s still trying his luck to try and continue his career again but will the NFL ever sign the player who defeated them in court?
