In February, the Iowa women’s basketball star scored 49 points against the Michigan Wolverines, gaining worldwide attention for breaking a record that was untouched for the last fifty years. As Fox College Hoops made a post featuring her and congratulated her for becoming the NCAA women’s basketball scoring leader, Brown reposted the tweet. However, instead of congratulating her, Brown opted for trolling her appearance and captioned the post with: “B***h look like Mel Gibson #CTESPN.”

However, when the former NFL wide receiver’s comments about Clark received severe backlash from many fans, Brown later came online and tried to neutralize his remarks, saying that his previous comments were solely meant as a joke. A day after comparing Clark’s appearance with Mel Gibson, Brown wrote: “It was a joke, entertainment.”
Despite Brown’s criticism, Clark’s stellar career and impressive statistics stood out, leading her to be selected as the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft. Clark has secured her spot in the professional league as the top pick by the Indiana Fever following her senior season at the University of Iowa. Reflecting on her journey, she expressed, “I dreamed of this moment since I was in second grade, it has taken a lot of hard work, ups, and downs.”
