In a recent YouTube video, the 23-year-old Broncos cornerback made a revelation on how the Alabama Head Coach has gone on to produce top NFL prospects over the years. In his 16 years at Alabama, his players signed contracts amounting to a staggering $2 billion. When asked how Saban gets his players ready, Surtain said his former head coach focuses on the “Dynamics of Excellence.” He added that the coach doesn’t entertain complacency and that their “strong work ethic” helped them soar to great heights.
He revealed that Saban has no time for nonsense in Alabama and his success is seen from his determination to teach and perfect his players. He has already drafted 116 Alabama players into the NFL with 41 of them being first-round drafts. Some of them are Daunte Culpepper, Julio Jones, and Amari Cooper.
When Surtain first came to Alabama, the coach had told him, “Alabama is not for everybody. If you don’t want to compete, go somewhere else. But if you want to come in day in and day out and compete against the best of the best, come to Bama.” With a mindset like that, we can’t question his seven rings from his seven national titles with Alabama.

With Nick Saban’s prolific career, it’s mighty hard to impress him, but somehow Surtain Jr. achieved the feat during his freshmen year itself. Saban recalled how Patrick needed little to no time adjusting to college football, saying, “You know, we sort of brought him along in the first couple games, we just played him about half the time, and then he became a starter, and he’s just done a really good job, and he’s a phenomenal person.”
During his time at Alabama, Patrick played 42 games and finished with 117 tackles (82 solos), four interceptions, 27 pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and four forced fumbles. He also competed in the 2020 championship games and earned several titles including SEC Defensive Player of the Year.
