“Diss me so long ago we making your memories fly” sang Drake in “8 AM In Charlotte.” Though there has been no outright reference to his friend-turn-enemy and fellow singer-songwriter, Kanye West, fans have picked up the crumbs. Especially in the third and final verse:

“You n****s obsessed with me and it’s not on no hetero vibe/ Handle beef so quiet you think that I’m letting it slide/ Next thing you know we tip-toeing past enemy lines/ Diss me so long ago we making your memories fly/ Conspiracy theories start floating around like the Kennedy guy/ I’ll probably hold a grudge against you guys ’til I’m 75,”

“You forced a lot of fake love when real ones stood in your face”  he is also heard rapping allegedly in reference to his old beef. The feud between Drake and Kanye West escalated in 2021 as they prepared to release their albums, “Certified Lover Boy” and “Donda.” The two rap icons engaged in a war of words, exchanging lyrical jabs and taking shots at each other on social media.

They momentarily appeared to make peace when they came together for the “Free Larry Hoover” benefit concert in Los Angeles. However, less than a year later, their feud appeared to be on the brink of reigniting. Drake’s song “Circo Loco” hinted that their reconciliation may have been influenced by a favor to Rap-A-Lot Records’ J. Prince.

The Subtle jabs might have caught substantial attention, but the majority of the spotlight was stolen by an unassuming blue-eyed boy.
