Antonio Brown is in the headlines yet again! Surprise! Surprise! Once a generational talent in the NFL, now an exiled player who could’ve been on to become one of the greats continues to be a figure of controversy with each passing day. Now, 3 years after his release, he’s planning to make a return soon, if the NFL lets him.
Antonio Brown, the former wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, tarnished his legacy forever when he chose to take his shirt off and walk out of the stadium as a sign of resistance. Soon after, he was released from the team and never to be returned. He tried his luck out with being a team owner for the Albany Empire, an arena football team, but under his guidance, the franchise was driven right into the ground. Now, Brown seems driven to return to the gridiron after the Steelers decided to reassign his number to a player.

In his latest tweet, Brown has finally expressed his desire to return to the NFL and make his much-anticipated comeback to the gridiron. Though his decision is being celebrated and mocked, his terms to come back to the Steelers seem to be driven purely out of spite. After the team announced their decision to assign Brown’s former 84 number to Cordarerelle Patterson, Brown seemed especially distraught since it used to be his number during his time with the Pittsburgh team.

And now, he has made a generous and hilarious offer to play for the team for free if they choose to return jersey number 84 to him. He wrote in his tweet, “After thinking it over talking it over with family I’ll come back and play for Steelers for FREE this season if I can get #86 Since Jersey # don’t matter much should not be a big deal Help us get 7 rings This is legit your move @steelers”
The former WR for the Buccs took a playful shot at the team by saying that the jersey number doesn’t matter much. This is because the Steelers are the type of team who don’t keep numbers on the shelf once players leave, and with Brown’s unfortunate departure, there seems to be no remorse in reassigning the number. Moreover, Brown is now dragging Big Ben’s name into this Steelers controversy with his recent tweet.
Steelers legend Big Ben being attached to Brown’s demands to return
Brown sealed his fate with the Pittsburgh Steelers back in 2018 when a tumultuous equation left him being traded to the Raiders. In 2010, the Steelers picked Brown in the Draft’s sixth round. Soon after, he became Benjamin Roethlisberger Sr.’s most preferred receiver on the field. Unfortunately, he was given up for the trade when he decided to abruptly walk off the practice field.

Now, it looks like Big Ben and Brown are reuniting again but in a virtual setting. Brown’s latest tweet read, “Just talked to Big Ben He said wear his #7 for SB # 7 Ball is in @steelers court ” While this hasn’t been officially confirmed with Big Ben himself, Brown seems pretty confident in his abilities to return and win a 7th Super Bowl for the Steelers, even though he might not be welcomed with open arms by his former team.
