“Your Boy is a cancer survivor. As soon as I get healthy to get back out with you guys, I will be on set. Hopefully, I can be with you guys soon.” It was in December 2024 that the legendary Randy Moss took to Instagram to announce he had defeated cancer and would be back on TV soon. Well, the Hall of Famer kept his word and has returned to the NFL countdown. Before the show, some of his friends and colleagues shared some messages welcoming the Vikings legends back.
Among the many who shared a message for him was Patriots legend and Moss’ former teammate Tom Brady. Brady said, “Welcome back, Randy. Sure, all the guys at the show have missed you, but we’ve all missed you as well. You’ve been a fixture on that show for a long time and you were a fixture on the field. And for as great as you were on the field and showing everybody the strength and resilience of how you performed over the course of your Hall of Fame career, you’ve impressed and inspired us more than anything in what you’ve done off the field.”
This is great: Randy Moss is back on TV today after being diagnosed with bile duct cancer—and he got a surprise welcome back from Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, Justin Jefferson, Kevin Garnett, Jerry Rice and more.

Randy Moss made an appearance at the 2025 NFL Honors
Moss had recently made an appearance at the 2025 NFL Honors. Moss attended the show through a live stream and was present there to give the Comeback Player of the Year award to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. The Countdown host has himself been a recipient of the same award. He won it with the Patriots back in 2007. While announcing the award, he said, “There’s no better story in the National Football League than the one about a player who does big things, overcomes adversity, and faces obstacles — but ultimately finds their way back to the mountaintop.”
Well, who better than Moss to give this award? The Hall of Famer fought a cancerous mass that was found in his bile duct, between his pancreas and liver. He had surgery to put a stent in his liver and underwent a six-hour procedure to remove the cancer. After all this, the champion player did not give up and made a comeback. Amazing!!
