To be a turncoat towards the very player that won him his only Super Bowl ring ever is crazy! The NFL world has always rightly acknowledged Tom Brady as the greatest QB to ever grace the gridiron. But today, a former teammate ends up undervaluing his greatness, something the football legend would be upset about.

Phillip Dorsett, currently the WR for the Denver Broncos, played for the New England Patriots from 2017 to 2019. During this time, he witnessed his first-ever Super Bowl win in 2018 when the Pats defeated the LA Rams by a score of 13-3. Unfortunately, Dorsett didn’t really contribute towards the victory since he recorded 0 receptions and ultimately, the responsibility fell on the shoulders of Brady and the QB didn’t disappoint. Cut to 6 years later, Dorsett is seen picking an unexpected player over Tom Brady as the best QB in what can only be considered ungratefulness on his part.

On the 31st May episode of ‘The Money Down’ podcast, Phillip Dorsett was invited to the show to talk about the spectacular NFL career he’s had so far. He was later posed with the question of who he thinks is the best quarterback. Something that happens to him very often since he’s played with several veterans, including Tom Brady.

Dorsett was with the Patriots for over 3 seasons, all of which were played alongside the 7-time SB winner. Thus, as per the NFL fans, it would have been the perfect response if Dorsett had chosen to name Brady the best quarterback he’s ever played with. Yet, the WR chose to run the other way. As per the Broncos’ WR, Andrew Luck was the most talented player he had ever crossed paths with. More so than being a phenomenal athlete, he was also a natural-born leader and Dorsett later added that despite his young age, the way he carried himself made it seem like he was a “ten-year vet.” Lastly, Dorsett concluded his analysis by saying, “He was tough as hell, had a strong arm, was smart, was accurate. It’s just injuries bro. It’s football.” His answer would definitely end up pricking his former Patriots’ teammate but for every fan of the sport as well, Andrew Luck has never been one to underestimate.

It is apparent that Dorsett thinks that Luck is better than Brady and the factor of talent drives his argument, right? Yeah, right! Well, with the aspect of talent behind us, let’s take a look at both Brady and Luck’s stats in their careers, which is guaranteed to leave your jaws wide open.

Andrew Luck v/s Tom Brady: The better career stats

What exactly makes Brady the supposed GOAT of the sport? His 7 Super Bowl rings are the immediate answer that comes to mind. But since Dorsett believes Luck to be a better player than Brady, let’s count the number of Super Bowl rings that the former Colts’ QB won…..And there’s your answer. The same QB who had a short-lived career of only 7 years in the NFL, has no championship rings to his name. Though the debate should’ve ended right here, let’s dive a little deeper into the comparison of stats.

In the entirety of Tom Brady’s career, he recorded over 89,214 passing yards and a staggering amount of 649 touchdowns. On the other hand, Luck stands miles behind with only 23,671 passing yards and 171 touchdowns. That’s not to say that Luck hasn’t had one of the most outstanding careers as well. He’s set an NFL rookie record with 4,374 passing yards and tied an NFL single-season record with seven game-winning drives.

There is no doubt that Luck has been one of the greatest quarterbacks in the sport, but Tom Brady has always been in a league of his own. Thus, at what point does closeted talent become superior to real-world glory? Something which is unrefutable and undeniable? Choose your side of the debate.
