Only the best of the best among the college football circuit make it to the draft. With players ranging from wide receivers, running backs, safeties, and D-linesman all part of the draft, undoubtedly the center of attraction remains the QB class.

And this year’s Draft class has arguably some of the best quarterbacks the league has seen in sometime. With the likes of players like Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, and Tray Lance in the fray, a lot of franchises will be looking to sort out their quarterback woes.

But, one quarterback who’s gone slightly under the radar, is Alabama’s Mac Jones. The Alabama side, under head coach, Nick Saban, won its 18th National Championship.

Mac Jones though, was the man to lead Alabama’s stellar offense to their championship win. And the former New England Patriots offensive coordinator and Notre Dame head coach, Charlie Weis, feels Jones has the exact tools needed to be a perfect fit for his former employees.

Mac Jones is the right man for the Patriots QB role

While talking to ESPN, Weis opened up about how he feels Jones has the ‘it’ factor needed to succeed in the NFL. He said, “What are the two most important components of a star quarterback? “They have the ‘it’ factor. And they’re accurate. That’s who he (Mac Jones) was”

Though Jones had several 5-star recruits to help him win the national title, Weis feels the quarterback’s role cannot be undermined.

“Yeah, he was around good players. But playing on a team with a bunch of stars, who is the leader of the offense? He also had to make all those throws. I think the kid is an excellent quarterback. He has less holes than just about anybody.”

Comparing Jones to the other top quarterbacks in the draft, Weis said Jones is the complete player available.

“When you talk about Trevor Lawrence, what makes him so special is that he can do everything Mac Jones can and he’s athletic… (Justin) Fields, really good player. Zach Wilson, really good player… But this guy, (Jones), he’s the one making all the plays. All he does is win and throw completions,” said Weis.

The Patriots thrived under Tom Brady. While Brady was never the most athletic QB in the league, his efficiency was something no other QB could match.
