Now set to enter the NFL, the QB is a near-guaranteed Round 1 pick. And for that, the quarterback might have to thank his footballing genes.
Football runs in the family for Trey Lance
Trey Lance was born and raised in the city of Marshall, Minnesota. He started off as a running back in youth football but soon transitioned to quarterback in middle school.
Interestingly, his father was once a football player himself. Trey’s father, Carlton Lance, played cornerback at Southwest Minnesota State. In fact, he was so good that he even made the college’s Hall of Honor.

Carlton also played for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League and the London Monarchs of the World League of American Football.
Carlton Lance even made the practice squad for the NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers. Thus it’s safe to say that football runs in the family bloodline.
Carlton met Trey Lance’s mother, Angie Lance, back in college. The two stuck through Carlton’s career as a globetrotter and thus are aware of the life that comes with having an athlete in the family.
