Weight has played a significant role in both the lives of Saúl “Canelo” Alvarez, the 33-year-old Mexican undisputed super middleweight boxing champion, and Tom Brady, the 46-year-old seven-time Super Bowl champion. Contrary to popular belief, losing weight is not directly proportional to one’s fitness, maintaining the optimal weight is. The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a metric that assesses body fat by taking into account an individual’s height and weight. It serves as a widely recognized indicator to gauge whether a person maintains a healthy body weight relative to their height.

On Monday’s episode of “Let’s Go!” [Season III] co-hosted by former Arizona Cardinals star Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray, and the legendary NFL quarterback Brady himself, Alvarez came on board to discuss not only his secret to maintaining the record of not being knocked out in any of his matches so far and followed it up with a discourse on weight.

Alvarez’s “Unbelievable accomplishment”

“We were playing golf out in California,” Brady reveals a personal experience he had in the past with the boxing legend. “I was amazed at your discipline,” says Brady, referring to the strict routine followed by Alvarez at the camp. Brady recalls asking Alvarez about how much he had to cut to get to his ideal weight. “Fifteen pounds.” he was told, which was shocking given the fact that on touching the fighter’s back Brady felt as though he were touching granite and, “there was no fat on you…where exactly is the weight coming from that you gotta drop?”

Brady himself is “down about 10 pounds” since his announcing his retirement this off-season. “I haven’t had the stress that I had while I was playing so that’s allowed me to focus a little bit more on my physical health,” says the retired NFL legend who is able to dedicate a considerable amount of time towards fitness and nourishment.

Another interesting fact highlighted during the session was that Saúl “Canelo” Alvarez has never been knocked out in any of his matches. Tom Brady calls it an “unbelievable accomplishment” and draws an ironic parallel to an unconventional NFL record of his own.

“I set an unfortunate record”, says Brady

Tom Brady holds the NFL record of being the most-sacked quarterback in NFL history. The GOAT has been sacked 556 times, which surpasses the previous record of 553 held by Ben Roethlisberger during his tenure with the Steelers. Tom Brady is a force to be reckoned with on the field and holds numerous other records as well. With seven Super Bowl victories, five Super Bowl MVPs, three league MVP awards, and a remarkable 15 Pro Bowl selections, he is undeniably one of the most accomplished players in the history of the NFL. However, he is amazed by the record the Mexican boxing champ has managed to maintain so far.

“How does that happen? How do you avoid that?” Asked Brady the Mexican boxing champion, who has managed to maintain a clean sheet as far as getting knocked out is concerned. “ I always try to learn in the gym, how to not get punched”, replied Alvarez. “Because I already know how to hit, alright,“ Alvarez reveals his dedication towards mastering the defense.
