The Jacksonville Jaguars officially listed Trevor Lawrence as questionable to play against the New Orleans Saints. However, he still came in on Thursday night and despite his sprained left knee, Lawrence led his team to the 24-31 victory. He, defying all odds, proved his worth by leading his team to a fourth straight win.
Saints QB Derek Carr, on the other hand, wasn’t able to communicate well with his wide receivers. And because of that, they eventually lost to the Jaguars, and even his coach Dennis Allen agreed with it. Comparing the two by analyzing the Thursday night game, sports analyst Colin Cowherd delivered his thoughts on the two quarterbacks as he brought in the Jets and Giants into the conversation.

In a recent episode of the podcast ‘The Herd with Colin Cowherd,’ Cowherd highlighted several key points of Thursday night’s matchup. He started by mentioning Trevor Lawrence and Derek Carr, “You get the quarterback right, it erases all the mess; get it wrong, overpay, you lose games at home you should win.”
Further highlighting the key role of Jaguars’ QB, the analyst continued, “Trevor Lawrence is what everybody’s looking for in this league.” He recalled Lawrence’s performance of the last game by saying the 24-year-old QB, who was suffering from an injured knee, still ran wild.
Not only did he have 20 of 29 passing, “a touchdown, a couple of huge runs at the right time, leadership not yelling at everybody on his team,” but, he also didn’t depend on any other player, and had six different targets, all these combined, Lawrence proved his worth for his team.
“And then there’s Derek Carr, who apparently was blaming everybody not named Derek Carr.”

Meanwhile, Cowherd called Derek Carr the person who was yelling at his team, including receivers & coaches. Furthermore, the 59-year-old highlighted that Carr was totally dependent on Alvin Kamara’s rushing and receiving. Hence, all these attributes on the field attest more to Lawrence than Carr, despite the huge difference in contract.
Carr’s contract is worth $150 million over four years while Lawrence signed a 4 year, $36,793,488 deal. While analyzing both the quarterbacks’ performance, the sports analyst brought up the upcoming Sunday game between the New York Jets and New York Giants.
Which team is likely to overpower the other?
The Jets are going to face off against the Giants on October 29 at MetLife. Which team will overshadow the other is probably the biggest question for many fans, because both teams meet in the regular season once in every four years. And even though Colin Cowherd seemed eager for this face-off, the analyst too couldn’t come up with a certain answer for the question.

However, if we look at this year’s preseason game between the two teams, the Jets pulled out the victory from the Giants in their last preseason matchup with 32-24. Cowherd also highlighted that he likes both the teams, their GMs, and their coaches.
He brought in the comparison saying that the Jets, on one hand, have one of the best corner and wide receivers in the league, while on the other, the Giants have great running backs. The Jets hold a record of 3-3 this season so far, while the Giants are on a losing track with 1-5 so far, including the shocking whitewash in their season opener.
