What’s the Moustache Mystery Between Andy Reid & Travis Kelce? Brother Jason Has the Answer

Travis Kelce lost a game before the Chiefs–Jets battle and had to wear the opposition team’s jersey on his podcast as a bet. Besides the lost bet, he even got his mustache compared to Andy Reid. One might be thinking, why didn’t Patrick Mahomes have to do the same? They are teammates, after all. Well, it’s not what you think, and neither the Chiefs have lost any game.

Kelce recently had a bet with a few guys within the Chiefs, and it went wrong for the tight end. As a result, he had to wear the winning team’s jersey. Alongside, Travis also got his mustache compared with head coach Andy Reid hilariously. All of that happened in the latest episode of the New Heights podcast.

Why Kelce wore a BYU jersey

Many of the members of the Kansas City Chiefs have a connection to Brigham Young University, which fields the BYU Football team in the NCAA division. But Kelce isn’t one of them. Rather, he is from the rival gang. Kelce is an alumnus of the University of Cincinnati, home to the Cincinnati Bearcats of the NCAA. The two teams faced in the NCAA week five game last Saturday, and Travis had a bet over the match, with some people within the Chiefs. He had to wear a BYU jersey if the Bearcats lost, and they lost the game 35-27.

“Sure enough, Cincinnati lost by seven. So, my bet was if I lost I had to wear a BYU Jersey on the show, and of course, if they lost, they all had to drink a beer with me”, Travis revealed the reason behind the jersey.

He also disclosed how he got his name in the jersey that quickly, “I was walking around the facility today and had a few guys mention that I heard you’re going to be wearing the Jersey. I’m just like damn that word spread quick”.

But little did Kelce know that the ultimate defeat was yet to come, from Jason Kelce. The elder brother gave a savage reply to Travis with an Andy Reid reference. But where did that come from?

Andy Reid’s connection with BYU

It turns out that the Chief’s head coach played for the BYU team between 1979-81. And he also made his coaching debut with them in 1982, as an assistant coach. Drawing that reference, Jason didn’t take time to poke fun at his brother, “You see you got a BYU Jersey and an Andy Reid mustache, this is quite the scene.” The comment left both the brothers breaking into laughter.

Kelce is winning every bet in his personal life, though. The quarterback has won Taylor Swift’s heart in one fairytale of a story, and the pop singer has attended back-to-back Chiefs games to cheer for the tight end. In the field, it’s not bad for Kelce either, as the Chiefs have overcome the Jets despite Zach Wilson looking like the man on a mission.

Their next stop is the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, as they take on the Minnesota Vikings. On paper, the game looks comparatively easier challenge, but one can’t tell for sure with a veteran like Captain Kirk on the Viking’s roster. The game will take place on October 9, Monday.
