It’s Week 1 of the NFL season, and the Detroit Lions’ young cornerback, Jerry Jacobs, isn’t exactly thrilled with his recent performance. The Lions’ defense didn’t quite live up to expectations in Week 1, falling 31-37 to the Seattle Seahawks.

After having a great record last year, Jacobs became the team’s most dependable corner. However, although the team has 1-1 record, after winning against the Chiefs and losing to the Seahawks, the Lions’ players aren’t having good time on personal basis. At least for Jacobs, he surely isn’t. After Jacobs’ rough start to this season, he has now taken a surprising decision.

After a Week 2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Jacobs came under fire from fans for his performance on social media. Some fans went as far as to criticize him on social media. Jacobs acknowledged it was one of the worst games of his career, but felt the criticism was unfair. That’s why he decided to take a break from social media this week.

In a message to fans, he said, “I know a lot of fans and media know everybody can have one bad game. Every corner can have an off day and I just felt like the people on there didn’t understand that. They just kept going and going and I had to block that out because I’ve been starting here for three years. How in the hell am I suddenly sorry if I’ve been doing it for so long?

Fans giving suggestions to a negative fan base?

After facing a ton of criticism, Jerry Jacobs decided to take this drastic action. Jacobs’ true fans are angry about the way he was treated after the Seahawks game. One fan wrote, “Jesus F**king Christ people need to grow up. Chiefs fans did the same sh*t to Toney after his week 1 disaster. And then Alexander Mattison got racist and violent comments after the Vikings week 2 loss. Social media is a cesspool and a mistake of an invention.

Another person said, “Reminder to people: As much as we feel like sports is life or death, it’s never that serious. Instead of typing your angry hate message to an athlete, just do something else with the rest of your day.

A fan highlighted Jacobs’ journey, saying, “People need to understand, he is an UDFA that tore his Achilles in his Rookie year. He has overcame more to achieve his dream than most can imagine. He is a more than competent player who had a rough week against one of the better receivers in the league it happens, he will be better going forward I know that.

A fan commented, “Lets not become this type of fan base. Its not like he had a bad game on purpose.

Another fan wrote, “Anyone who DM’s a player is a douche, but to do it to a player on your own team is another level of despicable. Jerry was tasked with covering a really good receiver. He didn’t have his best game but he also didn’t have a ton of help. We need to support our guys not tear them down.
