There are very few teams currently in the NFL that can pose a serious challenge to the Kansas City Chiefs. Out of them, probably one or two possess the firepower to defeat them. In simple words, the Chiefs are looking well on course to defend their Super Bowl championship. Being a perfectionist, however, Patrick Mahomes always wants the best from his team, even when they are winning.

Ahead of their next game, the team spoke to the press conference before going for a practice session. There, Mahomes underlined a major factor that the team lacked in their dominant win in the last game.

Almost at the mid-point of the season, every NFL team has had their takeaways by now. Depending on how they are performing, corrections are often carried out by head coaches and coordinators. Well-performing teams are looking to maintain their performance and take steps accordingly in the season ahead.

But things are a bit different at the defending champions, Kansas City Chiefs’ camp. The Captain and the quarterback Patrick Mahomes seems as critical as if they were fighting for the 4th spot in the division, and not the Vince Lombardi Trophy. In their pre-practice press conference ahead of the Chargers game, Mahomes red-lighted a big area that he believed needs improvement from the Broncos game.

“I think it’s just, like I said you got to have these sustained drives like we had this last game, but you have to execute in the red zone. And that’s something that we’ve taken pride in these last few years, is scoring touchdowns in the Red Zone. Obviously, this last game we didn’t do that, that’s why the game was close”, Mahomes insisted they needed to do better in the red zone.

“Because we didn’t score those touchdowns we got field goals and didn’t get points in some drives. And so we have to continue to get better and better and make sure that when we have these long sustained drives, that we score touchdowns when we get down in the Red Zone”, were the takeaways for Mahomes from the game.

Mahomes’ words reflect on the team’s performance, as 12 out of the Chiefs’ 19 points came from field goals scored by kicker Harrison Butker. That’s why before their next game, the Chiefs are in a hurry to correct their remaining mistakes, gaining even more momentum to be in favor than the present condition.

Can Patrick Mahomes win a back-to-back Super Bowl?

More likely than any other team, the Chiefs are the serious-most frontrunners as things stand. After losing the first game in the season, the Kansasns have won five straight games. Despite facing occasional troubles from the Jets’ Zack Wilson and

Vikings‘ Kirk Cousins, they have persisted and managed to come out on top.

While some of their hardest challenges are still on the way, with the backing of a prime Patrick Mahomes-Travis Kelce partnership nothing is impossible for the Chiefs. Even their other pairings look to be performing fairly well, especially in the times of challenging situations, like in the recent two games.
