Lamar Jackson is one of the most dynamic and exciting quarterbacks in the NFL. The two-time Pro Bowler and 2019 MVP has been with the Ravens all his career and has been an absolute gem for the last 5 years. But the Ravens fans have had enough now, and they aren’t shy about their feelings.

With just 5 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter, the Ravens were still in the lead 10-8 against their arch-rivals, Pittsburgh Steelers. Alas, the Ravens couldn’t manage to hold on to that lead, with the final score reading 17-10 for the Steelers. Action Jackson was dynamic throughout the game, but he was let down by his teammates. Especially his wide receivers, who dropped several passes and cost him a chance to beat the rival.

With the Ravens now dropping down to 2nd in their AFC North Bracket, fans are displeased with the rest of the team’s performance. More so because they learned that 7 crucial passes from the 26-year-old QB were dropped. An astonishing stat that many couldn’t even believe.

“This one hurts so much. We should’ve blown out the Steelers. This should’ve been Lamar’s MVP candidacy announcement game,” wrote an enthusiastic fan, while one fan lamented the precedence for such a thing, “Did the same thing against the Lions a few years ago, great performance killed by drops.”

One supporter even called for a change in play style from the QB, writing, “Since Lamar’s receivers apparently cannot catch balls. I suppose Lamar will have to go back to attacking and start running like a madman.” Some of the more tactical fans also gave advice to the management.

“Ravens need to stop drafting WRs and trade for one,” tweeted a passionate Ravens supporter. Even rival fans felt bad for the dazzling QB as one expressed, “Fr not a fan of Lamar but yesterday was NOT his fault. I mean players dropped passes in the end zone that every middle school kid can make.”

Those are not the only words that came forth after the horrendous display from the team. Head Coach John Harbaugh and the QB himself voiced their opinions.

Ravens need catchers and consistency

Jackson did not blame his receivers for the loss, but he admitted that it was frustrating to see so many passes hit the ground. “I believe (we gave the game away). We didn’t want to, but (we had) little mishaps. We’re right there. We had them beat,” Jackson said after the game.

HC Harbaugh told the media “It’s not something that we want to do”, referring to the numerous dropped catches. For sure, they’ll have to stop doing that if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive. And those hopes cannot rest on one man’s shoulders only.

Lamar Jackson is a superstar who can make plays with his arms and his legs. Many opine he deserves better than what he got from his receivers on Sunday and that he deserves a chance to win games and compete for championships.
