Russell Wilson has lived up to his name, yet again. ‘Mr. Comeback’ engineered a fourth quarterback comeback for the ages, helping the Broncos turn the table against the Bears. The Broncos were 20-7 down by the end of the third quarter, after a disoriented offense throughout the game. Then, the inevitable struck. The quarterback maestro basically pulled off one: ‘Fine, I’ll do this myself’ moment, and the rest is history.

Now, the Broncos have their first win of the season after going 0-3, thanks to Russell’s infamous determination and willpower. His mentality is a source of motivation for us all, but who motivates the quarterback himself? Well, he revealed that yesterday, with a quote inspired by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. But there is also someone else who Russell has been looking up to. And that is Bruce Lee.

‘Mr. Comeback’ effect kicked in exactly when you’d expect it to be, at Soldier Field in Chicago. Just when it looked like it was over for the Broncos, Russell and Co. started a rampage on the Bears. The next 15 minutes saw the quarterback rack up 21/28 passes for 223 yards and a 133.5 passer rating in total, his best with the Broncos to date. The following day, Russell shared a few motivational words in his Instagram story. Taking reference from the iconic “Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish” quote by Steve Jobs, Russell wrote “Complacency is the silent assassin of progress. Stay hungry, stay focused, and keep pushing forward. Each step, no matter how small, fuels the fire of transportation.” Jobs’ words for sure have worked for the betterment of Russell. But there’s more to it, as Russell had saved another source of his motivation for later.

Yesterday, he put up a quote associated with Bruce Lee. In his latest Instagram story, the quarterback shared a quote stating “You will continue to suffer if you have an emotional reaction to EVERYTHING that is said to you. True power is sitting back and OBSERVING everything with LOGIC”, supposedly said by the legendary martial artist. And unsurprisingly, Russell isn’t the only one. He is just one of the millions that are still inspired by the immortal ‘Dragon’, even 50 years after his death.

While the credibility and the origin of the quote are often questioned, one can not question its moral value. Not Russell at least, as his latest showing proved he has every word from the quote ingrained in his mind. But the fight is not over for Russell. He needs all the motivations of the world to turn the season back for the Broncos. And that kicks off with the battle of Wilsons.

Can Russell Wilson continue the streak?

While it is safe to say Russell has hit the stride, the Broncos can not relax yet. Russell’s namesake Zach has also leveled up, as the New York Jets arrive at Empower Field for their next challenge. Despite giving it all, the Jets ultimately failed to make their astounding efforts count against the Chiefs. Understandably, they are going to be more desperate than ever as Zach seeks revenge.

While their latest game results are different, one thing is common: both of their biggest weapons have lately switched gears, in the shape of Russell and Zach Wilson, respectively. Additionally, both of them also hold a disappointing 1-3 record in the season, which needs to be changed at any cost.

With two of the best quarterbacks in the league facing off over a battle of glory, the Broncos vs. Jets game promises to be a banger. Russell will have Bruce Lee to inspire him, whereas Zach will have mentored A-Rod by his side. And only one will emerge victorious when the Gang Green travels to Denver next week. So don’t miss out on the duel between the cross-country Wilsons, on October 9.
