What could be more devastating than losing back-to-back games and facing insults simultaneously? Well, who could know better than Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson? This season, the Orange Crush team holds a losing record of 1-4 so far. While the reasons behind the troubled franchise are visible, unsurprisingly, it’s the squad’s QB who is facing the wrath!
The NFL brought its Week 5 games on Sunday. Among the many surprising results, such as the New England Patriots‘ blowout loss, the Broncos also suffered another defeat, adding to their list of losses this season. As usual, QB Russell Wilson was targeted by Broncos fans, especially after he received praise from an NFL reporter.

After the Broncos’ consecutive losses, except one against the Chicago Bears, the Broncos’ fans are venting their frustration on the quarterback. Most recently, the Orange team lost to the New York Jets with a score of 21-31. Following that defeat, Broncos fans directed their anger towards the 34-year-old Russell Wilson.

Weird to do that to a player who’s so, so good.

Notably, an NFL reporter, Connor Hughes, praised Wilson, writing, “Wow. Are my ears deceiving me? #Broncos fans are booing Russell Wilson after he’s sack-fumbled on third down. Weird to do that to a player who’s so, so good.” As he praised $245 million QB Wilson on social media, little did he know that he would become the target of the hatred directed towards the QB.
The Broncos nation expressed their anger and animosity towards both the NFL reporter and the quarterback simultaneously.
Fans demanded a replacement for Russell Wilson?
The Jets provided the Broncos with an opportunity to stage a comeback victory by committing turnovers. However, their defense ensured that Denver’s attempt would result in disappointment. With less than a minute left in the game, defensive end Quincy Williams ripped the ball out of Denver quarterback Russell Wilson’s hands during a sack. Safety Bryce Hall recovered the fumble and returned it 39 yards for a score that sealed a win for the Jets. As a result, Broncos fans became incensed and began directing their criticism toward the quarterback. When reporter Hughes urged fans not to do so, they turned their anger toward him as well, alongside Wilson.
