Tua Tagovailoa is having a stellar season as the quarterback of the Miami Dolphins. He leads the NFL in passing yards (1,876) and touchdowns (14). He guided his team to a 5-1 record and the top spot in the AFC East. But don’t let his stats fool you, as one teammate confirmed. Despite leading the individual records, Tua is a leader in the team.
The Miami Dolphins have put on an offensive masterclass this season. Ripping through defenses and game plans, they are a free-flowing scoring team. Most of the credit goes to HC Mike McDaniel, but if this veteran player is to be believed, Tagovailoa’s efforts are also a key to their success.

The 31-year-old former San Francisco 49ers RB was talking to Pat McAfee on The Pat McAfee Show. Raheem Mostert was not shy about sharing his thoughts on Tagovailoa. He said, “He’s very selfless… a selfless type of guy, and he wants the best. This year, he’s just taking these leaps and bounds that are just remarkable. If you see what he’s doing, I mean, he’s breaking all kinds of records. You know he’s holding him himself to a higher standard.”
Mostert also revealed that he had seen this quality in the young QB when they met for the first time. He said, “He’s always had that leadership mentality. I mean, last year, for me working with him for the first time, I could tell that he was poised to be a great leader. He speaks very well; he wants the best out of the guys in the room, the guys around him.” It’s abundantly clear that when the veterans of the game talk about someone like this, he certainly is a special player.
The 25-year-old QB was the fifth overall pick for the Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft. Now, he’s on pace to break the record for most passing yards in a single season. He’ll have the opportunity to get closer to the record.
