The Denver Broncos are facing a tough challenge in Week 5, as they lock horns against the New York Jets at Empower Field at Mile High. But the team and star QB Russel Wilson have a dilemma. Their 23-year-old RB Javonte Williams might just miss out on one of the biggest games of the regular season.

Willams is the one who makes the Broncos offense go, the one who keeps defenses honest. And the one who can break a big play at any moment. The young RB sustained an injury last week in their first win of the season. Now will he be able to play against the New York Jets on Sunday? Or will he have to watch from the sidelines as his team tries to keep their playoff hopes alive?

‘Pookie’ was the Broncos’ second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He suffered a hip flexor injury in their last game, a thrilling 31-28 win over the Chicago Bears. A game that looked like was getting out of the hands of the Broncos was won in the dying minutes of the 4 quarter. Russel Willson was at his phenomenal best getting help from his teammates. But Williams was not one of them as he was forced out earlier by the injury. Earlier reports suggested, it’s not a big deal but now the tides seem to be turning.

After the game against the Bears, it was reported by ESPN that the RB is not expected to miss much time. But leading up to the showdown with the Jets, it has been reported that Willams could be out for weeks. The Broncos have yet to release an official injury update for this week, but that hasn’t stopped fans and pundits alike to wonder the fate of the Broncos.

The Broncos are already 1-3 this season, and they can’t afford to lose any more ground in the AFC West. Already in the bottom position, they are competing with the Las Vegas Raiders for third. While the Chiefs and the Chargers lead the pack. If Williams does end up missing the game, Russell Wilson will have to rely on the undrafted rookie.

But the backup QB Zach Wilson was shoved into the starter role after the horrific injury to the Jets’ latest acquisition Aaron Rodgers. With Zach coming into his own, this week will be a tough battle of QBs, a battle between the Wilsons.

After being criticized for weeks for his performances, the 24-year-old shone brightly on the biggest stage. Against the defending champions the Chiefs, the QB displayed a valiant performance even in defeat. He was going toe-to-toe with the 2X Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes and that is an achievement. The Jets are also 1-3 leading up to the game, but with Willams considered to be sidelined for the game, the Broncos will have to dig deep.
