In MetLife Stadium on Sunday, the season record was broken, although it will take some time to topple the old mark. However, had Aaron Rodgers been present, the New York Jets may have ended their protracted losing skid. Due to a torn Achilles tendon, Rodgers is sidelined for the whole season.

Zach Wilson, Rodgers’ backup quarterback, is now under pressure as a result of his absence. Wilson, meanwhile, appears to be struggling this year as the Jets’ QB. The team defeated the Bills in the first game, but against Dak Prescott‘s Dallas Cowboys in the following contest, they were out of sorts. And today, despite the fact that New York fell to Bill Belichick‘s squad 30-10, this defeat is more significant for two historical factors.

The New England Patriots defeated the New York Jets by a score of 15-10 on Sunday, Sept. 24, at Metlife Stadium. The win was the first of the season for the Patriots after a 0-2 start. Moreover, with this result, Bill Belichick and his team extended their eight-year, fourteen-game winning streak over the Big Apple. The Jets’ last victory against the Patriots dates back to 2015, on December 27th. And since then, the Patriots have won every game against the Big Apple.

In addition to the historical context, Belichick’s curse may also be holding the Jets back from achieving a victory. In 2000, Bill Belichick resigned from his position as the Jets’ head coach after just one day, and since then, the Jets have struggled to perform at their best. When Aaron Rodgers joined the team, Jets fans hoped that this might be the time to defeat the Patriots and potentially win the Super Bowl for the first time since 1969. However, with the absence of A-Rod, it looks like the Jets will have to wait another season.

Meanwhile, it seems fans are fed up with Wilson, after his back-to-back poor performances.

Zach Wilson’s struggles continued in this game against Bill Belichick’s Patriots, marked by several costly mistakes. His performance left much to be desired as he completed 18 of 36 passes for 157 yards with no touchdowns. The Jets, trailing 1-2, had a chance to mount a late-game comeback with less than three minutes remaining, but Wilson’s decision-making proved costly. Instead of making a play, he took a sack in his own end zone, resulting in a safety with just 2:19 left on the clock.

Since stepping in for Aaron Rodgers after the Jets’ first offensive drive of the season, Wilson has accumulated 438 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions this season. His subpar performance has drawn criticism from Jets fans, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Jets’ management starts closely scrutinizing his role on the team.
