September 11th this year was a devastating day for the NFL community, especially for Aaron Rodgers‘ fans. During the first five minutes of the game against the Buffalo Bills, the New York Jets‘ newly acquired Rodgers got injured and had to be carted off the field. The shock and despair deepened when the news broke that A-Rod was set to miss the entire season, shattering the Jets’ hopes of winning the Super Bowl for the first time since 1969.
While fans were eagerly anticipating Rodgers’ debut with the Jets this season, there was another highly anticipated matchup on the horizon: Aaron Rodgers vs. Patrick Mahomes. However, now that Rodgers will not play against the Kansas City Chiefs QB, another fear has replaced the previous one for Mahomes.

The Chiefs are set to face the Jets this week on Sunday night football at 7:20 p.m. at the MetLife Stadium, the same venue where Aaron Rodgers suffered an injury within the first 240 seconds of the game on Monday. Now, Patrick Mahomes, who is also recovering from an ankle injury, will be playing on the Jets’ home turf.
Adding to the concern is the fact that the stadium features artificial turf, an improved synthetic surface designed to reduce injuries, yet it failed to prevent A-Rod’s Achilles tendon injury. In contrast, Mahomes has expressed his preference for playing on natural grass at Arrowhead Stadium.
Fans are hoping that history won’t repeat itself and that QB Mahomes can avoid a similar stroke of bad luck as A-Rod as he continues to recover from his own injury from the recent game.

On Sunday, during the game against the Chicago Bears, Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes suffered a painful ankle injury. The Red Team was leading 31-0 against the struggling Bears but was still attempting to score more points. In the second half, Mahomes rolled his right ankle while attempting a pass when the rival team’s rusher, Yannick Ngakoue, hit the 2-time Super Bowl champion.
Soon after the hit, Mahomes was seen hopping on the turf in pain. Although the 28-year-old remained in the game, he seemed to be suffering immensely on the field. Mahomes had also dealt with an ankle injury during last year’s postseason, which impacted the team’s Super Bowl run.
