The Kansas City Chiefs will ride out to the MetLife Stadium this Sunday to face off against the Jets. Buoyed by their back-to-back wins against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears, they would want to keep the momentum alive. But will the stadium with its artificial turf that cost Aaron Rodgers this season be a bad omen for Patrick Mahomes as well? Mahomes is already suffering from an ankle injury.

The Jets are down 1-2, having lost to both the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots ever since their talisman, A-Rods tore his Achilles. But will Mahomes’ injury be the silver lining for them?

In the blowout 41-10 win against the Bears, last Sunday, Mahomes had to be pulled out of the second half after he was seen limping. The game was already 34-0, so it was safe to have him sit on the sideline. The Bears took full advantage of his absence in the second half and managed to score 10 points. Even though Chiefs fans were over the moon at the blowout win, the 2x SB MVP’s limp made them nervous and anxious.

But after the latest injury report was released by the team, Chiefs fans can finally heave a sigh of relief. Their star player is healthy and will play the match in New Jersey. He has been listed as suffering from an ankle injury, but he was a full participant in all three practice sessions of this week.

However, some other Chiefs players are not so lucky. Four players were in limited participation or skipped practice. Two of them have been ruled out. Will the Chiefs be able to dominate the field, regardless?

The weakened defense

LB Nick Bolton and CB Jaylen Watson have been ruled out due to ankle and shoulder injuries, respectively. The Chiefs’ defense did most of the heavy lifting in their first two games this season. But now they will be considerably weakened due to the two key players’ absence. But, the Mahomes-Kelce partnership is back, and the offense is expected to bring their A-game.

For the Jets, things do not look much bright either. Safety Tony Adams and OL Wes Schweitzer have been ruled out. And with strong doubts cast on Zach Wilson’s ability to lead the Jets is also a cause for concern. Will the Rodgers-less Jets manage to clinch a difficult victory against the Chiefs?
