The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up to face their divisional rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers. While the Chiefs are 5-1 and are at the top of the AFC West, the Chargers are 2-3, and are third in the leaderboard. The Chiefs are not going to have this one easy, especially with Chargers Linebacker, Khalil Mack on the Defensive Line. How will this face-off between the two pan out, when Mahomes has already admitted that their offense is not up to the mark?

The Chiefs defense has put up an uncharacteristically brilliant show this season. At the same time, the offense has performed uncharacteristically below expectations. Now, with having to face a stronger defense than what they have faced up till now, how will the two teams on opposing sides of the ball stack up against each other?

Talking to the media ahead of the Sunday Night Football, Matt Nagy, offensive coordinator of the Chiefs, highlighted his concerns about the upcoming match. In particular, he was concerned about LB Khalil Mack. The 6’3″ player had recorded 6 sacks in their game against the Las Vegas Raiders! That record, plus the one against the Cowboys, bumped him up to third place in the most number of sacks, according to the NFL’s official website. Speaking about player #52, Matt said, “He’s a very dominant player. Their front line really creates havoc and helps their back end.” Patrick Mahomes better watch out!

Including the 7 sacks, he has registered a total of 23 tackles in the season so far. The 6-sack record fell one short of matching the current NFL record. Derrick Thomas of the Chiefs holds the record for most sacks in a game that has been unbeaten since 1990. With the Raiders game, Mack has earned a place among the elite clique of four other players to get six sacks in one game. Impressive, huh? But Mahomes is Mahomes, and here’s what Khalil Mack himself had to say about the 2x SB MVP.

Mahomes is indeed a threat, but has just 6 sacks so far!

Speaking to the media during a practice session, Khalil Mack spoke about the threat Patrick Mahomes posed to his team. He said that he is one of the greatest to ever play football and that he has a lot of respect for him. He acknowledged that Mahomes is going to be a big challenge. When asked what aspects of Mahomes make him such a big threat on the gridiron, Mack said that it was his ability to improvise. He can make a deep throw or throw a ball over his head from his QB position. He is unpredictable.

Besides, Mahomes has six sacks in the entire season so far. With the QB getting an average of 2.5 seconds to throw the ball after the ball has been snapped, Mahomes has done an exceptional job so far. Moreover, the Kansas City Chiefs squad is currently fourth in the league for yards on offense. During last week’s press conference, Mahomes strongly admitted that executing players at a higher level is much needed. Coming back to Mack, the LB was able to triumph over the Raiders, but the Chiefs are no Raiders! The Chiefs face off against the Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium on October 22, at 4:30 PM EST. Will Mack be able to repeat his performance against the Chiefs, or will Mahomes prove too unpredictable for them?
