Earlier this year, Netflix treated its American football fans with the long-anticipated documentary “Quarterback”. It has sparked a new excitement among them and gives them that little extra that always isn’t available on the broadcast. Especially it portrays the behind-the-scenes footage, which is always a thing of curiosity for hardcore sports lovers. So much so that even many non-football fans shred their excitement after the show’s first release. But here’s a catch, and it has to do with a potential NSFW moment!

But there’s one aspect of the game that has also been revealed with the ground-level footage. Maybe, or maybe not, but quite unwantedly. It is the players’ body language, precisely their usage of curse words during the adrenaline rush of an intense game. So, we will analyze if Netflix is doing a good job displaying the NSFW content or not. Keep reading.

Why is the question there in the first place?

The first episode of Quarterback aired in the USA on July 12, 2023. It became an instant hit among the community, and the show even created new football fans along the way. From younger audiences to middle-aged and decade-long passionate football fans, it captivated everyone’s attention with its exceptional storyline and screenplay. But the problem lies exactly there, with those younger audiences. The heated moment occurred between Mahomes and Maxx Crosby. This was the day when the Chiefs squad rallied from 17–0 down to beat the Las Vegas Raiders, 30–29.

In one of the episodes, there was one scene from NFL 2022 match week 5’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders. The scene shows Patrick Mahomes shouting out loud, cursing words at one of the opposition players. The Chiefs captain was visibly furious, and he just let it all loose after tight end Travis Kelce scored a touchdown from one of his throws. Mahomes almost went into a fight with Raiders’ defensive end Maxx Crosby and kept swearing during the entire confrontation before his teammates pulled him back. Even after returning to the sideline, Mahomes kept shouting “I’m here’ redf*ce,” pointing out at Raiders’ DE. He added to his NFSW message, “You woke up the wrong motherf—-ker!”

Although that clip gave the fans a sense of the heat that these players go through on a daily basis, questions do arise about its appropriateness given the show’s large under-aged audience. It was meant to reveal the insights of the football field, which it definitely did. But did it also reveal much more than just insights, something that was probably unwanted? Did it do more harm than good to the children, a few might ask?

Before we get into any discussion, here’s a simple note to the parents: anything can be seen the way people want to see it. So parents should always teach their kids the basics of field etiquette and control their nerves on heated occasions like this. That’s not easy, especially with modern parents allowing their kids more and more freedom with less authority over their actions. But once these are implemented on an individual from a young age, it should do the job. And it almost never goes away. The parent of a well-mannered kid can let them sit next to themselves, knowing it won’t affect their mind.

If that’s not the case, however, then it is not appropriate and needs a change. Simple as that. But when it comes to football, the raw footage is truly exciting in every sense. But then again, it’s just our analysis, and you are always welcome to proceed with your own views. Just a thought here. An athlete must know that when Coach Reid comes in to pull them off, they know things might have been taken too far. Not to mention, the word “redf*ce” is itself as deep as blackf*ce minstrelsy, and might leave a racist imagery.

As things currently stand, Quarterback Season 2 has been green-lit by Netflix and the production will begin in time. Until then, NFL fans have their adrenaline rush high as their favorite teams lock horns against their rivals this season. It’s only fair to expect that such moments would be reiterated for fans to witness.
