In Week 3 of the NFL, the Miami Dolphins absolutely destroyed the Denver Broncos. Miami won this game with a score of 70-20. They had the opportunity to become the highest-scoring team in history, but head coach Mike McDaniel stopped them. NFL analyst Rich Eisen went into great detail about how McDaniels has worked on his team, and now Miami is showing a ‘breathtaking’ performance.

With 33 seconds left in the game, Coach McDaniel chose to take a knee. If Miami had kicked a field goal at the end of the game instead of taking a knee, it would have been the most points ever scored in NFL history. Back in the day, McDaniel wasn’t even granted an interview when he approached the Broncos for the head coach job.

What does Rich Eisen have to say about Mike McDaniel?

The crowd at Hard Rock Stadium was chanting, ‘Three more points!’ Miami needed just three points to make history and break the 1966 record when Washington defeated the Giants 72-14. However, they chose to kneel down, displaying their sportsmanship. It was a great gesture by Coach McDaniel.

In ‘The Rich Eisen Show’, Eisen dissected the peak performance of Miami. He has given full credit to Coach McDaniel and called him the ‘Mad Scientist’ who worked in the lab during the non-playing season and turned Miami into this breathtaking team.

This team coming out of the gates and just hitting everyone in the mouth in a way that proves very difficult to stop very difficult to stop and defend“, Eisen said. Now, Miami is possibly the most dangerous team in the NFL. Players like Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, DeVonta Smith, and Raheem Mostert are performing exceptionally well.

Why did the Head Coach kneel down instead of creating history?

During the post-game press conference, McDaniel revealed why he chose to kneel down instead of making history. He made it clear that his team plays to win and not to chase records. “It felt like chasing points and chasing a record — that’s not what we came to the game to do,” McDaniel said. There were discussions around McDaniel’s decision, and many suggested that he took pity on Denver. However, McDaniel clarified that it wasn’t about showing mercy to the Broncos but rather about his philosophy.

McDaniel was adamant about his decision, asserting that he had made the right choice. “That doesn’t have a bearing on the overall season outcome, and I just didn’t — I saw it as 10 times out of 10, you concede and kneel down in those situations because there was an attainable record that was cool, but the message that I thought it would send wasn’t really in line with how I view things”, he said.
