We are just one week away from the NFL trade deadline of the year. Franchises are wrapping up their unfinished businesses quickly. But Las Vegas Raiders are at the moment, happy with what they have. They have opted not to sell veteran Davante Adams, who has been crucial in the franchise’s run so far in the season.
With a big injury affecting the whole squad, the Raiders can’t take the risk of trading Adams now, even for big trade values. Despite multiple sources hinting towards it, the Raiders have reportedly informed the league about their disagreement. An NFL Insider has revealed the news.

Davante Williams is a six-time pro bowler and three-time All-Pro first-team inductee. The experienced WR joined the Raiders in 2022, after 8 seasons with the Packers. Recently rumors started that Adams wanted a transfer to one of the better-performing NFL sides amid a lack of destination with the franchise. Especially the Cowboys were thought to be in Adams’ target for a possible trade exchange.
But the Raiders have straight-up denied the deal. They still think of the wide receiver in high regard and count on him as one of their valuable assets. They have reportedly informed the teams that Adams is not up for sale, NFL insider Adam Schefter has updated the story via ESPN. NFL aggregator Dov Kleiman also shared the story in X (Formerly Twitter).

The Tom Brady-backed franchise may have their reason for opting out of the deal. Adams has been one of their constant performers in a rollercoaster season. He was monumental, especially in the last week when the Raiders managed to end the Eagles‘ five-game-win streak.
Adams could possibly be part of a bigger plan for the Raiders, and they want to hold on to him for the time being. But why is he so valuable for the Raiders?

Tough season for the Raiders, but could be tougher
After three straight defeats in match weeks 2, 3, and 4, the Raiders have pulled two back, making them 3-3 for the season. Things, however, could be a lot worse if it was not for the two veterans: Garoppolo and Adams. Since the preseason, the quarterback-wide receiver partnership has been the standout feature of the team. After the past six regular games, Adams ranks as the 10th-best receiver in the league at both receiving yards and number of receives with 3 touchdowns (4th). Whereas Garoppolo has been one of the leading passers with 7 TDs, a 68% completion rate, and 7.3 yards per attempt despite missing two games already and struggling with back issues even before that.
It’s a no-brainer that the Raiders don’t want to let go of Adams, at a critical point of the season. With Garoppolo injured now, much of the task lies in the hands of the wide receiver and the franchise shouldn’t be generous with their trading ideas to help the veteran as much as they can. Raiders next face the 1-5 Bears on October 21, Sunday, at Soldier Field in Chicago.
