If there’s one position that the Kansas City Chiefs need to recruit in, it is the wide receiver. The defending champions have always looked for a better ball carrier in the offense and despite Patrick Mahomes’ best efforts, this has been one position the team has never been able to exploit to the max.
That, however, is about to change! The New York Jets are reportedly interested in a trade deal with one of the Chiefs’ homeboys. They are also looking for a late-pick swap with the champions in the upcoming days and that can come as a much-needed relief to Patrick Mahomes and his boys.

The Chiefs drafted Mecole Hardman Jr. in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft. Hardman Jr. played as a wide receiver for the team from 2019 to 2023 before joining the Jets and was part of the two Super Bowl-winning squads. However, the Jets rarely used him in their style of play, and it looks like they are better off bringing the WR back to his previous side.
NFL Insider Adam Schefter has revealed the news via X (formerly, Twitter) about the latest developments happening around the Jets and the transfers they seem to be focused on indulging in.
The Jets are reportedly keen on bringing an NFL 2025 6th-round pick in exchange for Hardman Jr. and a 2025 7th-round pick. But Hardman isn’t the only one making a homecoming. Following a lackluster season, the Denver Broncos released defensive end Frank Clark just months after signing him.

And the Chiefs are the front runners to sign the experienced DE back and continue some familiar momentum in the defensive side. Clark was also a part of a blockbuster trade deal for the Chiefs in 2019 and was part of two Super Bowl-winning squads before joining the Broncos in June 2023.

Talking to OutKick’s “Five Spot” with Donovan McNabb, Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid recently revealed how Mahomes has taken up the mentorship role in the Chiefs’ practice squad. Reid was very appreciative of Mahomes’ efforts who, according to him, takes time to adjust to the new players. Especially those from the special teams, not starting on a regular basis.
Despite leading the league’s offensive stats in multiple areas, Mahomes has been constantly looking for some experienced ball carriers for a while now. Isiah Pacheco and Skyy Moore are currently the only two options available, and with the addition of two familiar faces the Cheifs’ offense could finally find the two missing pieces they needed.
