As the Kansas City Chiefs gear up for their 7th-week game against the Los Angeles Chargers, good news is coming their way. Defensive end Charles Omenihu is all set to join the team, but this is not the end of their fortune. A wide receiver is also expected to join the Chiefs!
Both of these players are surely going to boost the already unstoppable Chiefs. However, this news can be more troubling for the Chargers, who are already struggling this season. The Chargers are 2-3 in the league, whereas the Chiefs are 5-1.

Charles Omenihu is returning to the field after serving his 6-week suspension. In January of this year, he was arrested in an alleged domestic violence incident. The NFL found him guilty of violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. And thus granted him a six-week suspension. In March, the Chiefs signed him to a two-year free agent contract. Interestingly, Omenihu has never played for the Chiefs. He played for the Houston Texans for 3 seasons and the San Francisco 49ers for 2 seasons. ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted about this development on his Twitter handle.
Kansas City’s newly-acquired WR Mecole Hardman and Chiefs DL Charles Omenihu, who is coming off a six-game suspension, both are expected to play today vs. the Chargers.

Along with Omenihu, another player who is joining the Chiefs is Mecole Hardman. Earlier this week, he was acquired in a trade from the New York Jets. But this is not the first time he is going to play for the Chiefs. For the first four years of his career, he played for the Chiefs and was part of two Super Bowl victories. Later, he moved to the Jets but never reached his previous performance. Both of these players will surely make the Chiefs stronger.
How are the Chiefs looking at this new development
The Chiefs are already maintaining good momentum, dominating this season. However, creating space for the new entrants will be a bit difficult for the team. In a press conference, Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid commented on Omenihu’s return, stating, “Charles is in there, who is a good football player to the mix. I’m looking forward to seeing him get in there. I don’t know if he’s gonna be able to step right in and play the whole game. One of those things, I think we just ease him back in and let him get going there. See how he does.”

Omenihu has not appeared on the field wearing a Chiefs jersey, so this will be his debut for the Chiefs. However, he played in the preseason and also participated in the training camp, so it surely won’t be difficult for him to adjust. For the first six weeks, he was on the reserve/suspended list. Omenihu will undoubtedly make the Chiefs’ defense more indispensable. Chiefs’ Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is optimistic about Omenihu.

Hardman’s inclusion in the team is also making waves in the NFL world. The addition of Hardman was expected as the Chiefs released Montrell Washington. It will be interesting to see how both these players perform for the Chiefs. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
