The Kansas City Chiefs are on a roll this season, after the thunderous victory over the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday. The Chiefs will be back at Arrowhead Stadium to host the Denver Broncos. But as it stands right now, superstar QB Patrick Mahomes might have to make do without his favored accomplice, Travis Kelce.

Mahomes has enjoyed his stint with his TE over the years, leading to 2 Super Bowls. But for the week 6 matchup, there is a possibility that Taylor Swift’s rumored beau might not be able to make it. With millions of Swifties crossing their fingers that Kelce does step up, the latest injury report from the team doesn’t seem like good news.

As many would remember in the game, against the Vikings,#87 had limped off in the second quarter. He was visibly anguished and frustrated, but came back in the third with his strapped ankle to continue. However, the Chiefs just released their injury report and on top of the list, it’s Kelce’s name on a non-practice day.

Since this week’s game will be played on Thursday, the team opted not to practice but will do so in the coming days. The report from the Chiefs states that had there been a normal practice day, TE Kelce would not have been able to participate due to his ankle issues. Out of the other players from the injury report, there’s one good news for Mahomes and Co. as well.

Kadarius Toney WR has had limited participation for the Chiefs throughout the season. However, the report states that the 24-year-old would’ve participated fully in the practice session. Now Kelce is the most dangerous TE in the entire NFL, but if push comes to shove, the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes will have to make do.

The game against the Broncos will be a crucial showdown between the AFC West rivals. Patrick Mahomes is playing at an MVP level, throwing for 1,287 yards and 10 touchdowns with 4 interceptions. Though he might lack the firepower this week, he has enough talent to take the team to the winning line, especially against the struggling Broncos.

Despite winning a close game against the Chicago Bears, earlier this season, the Broncos have lost each of their 4 games handily. They are at the bottom position on the AFC West table. Their record against the Chiefs might also give them nightmares.

The Chiefs have dominated the Broncos in recent years, winning nine straight games against them since 2015. A win for the Chiefs would give them a comfortable cushion in the division race, while a loss would tighten things up. A win for the Broncos would keep them alive in the playoff hunt, while a loss would put them in a deep hole.
